San Francisco Is Investigating The Bedrooms Elon Musk Installed At Twitter For Possible Code Violati
Source: Forbes
San Franciscos Department of Building Inspection is investigating a complaint that Twitter CEO Elon Musk has converted office space at the companys headquarters into bedrooms for employees, following a Forbes report.
We need to make sure the building is being used as intended, said Patrick Hannan, the communications director for the department, in a statement. There are different building code requirements for residential buildings, including those being used for short-term stays.
Forbes reported Monday that Twitter employees arriving to work that day had been surprised by the rooms, which feature what appear to be queen-sized mattresses. An image shared with Forbes showed a room that looked like it had been converted from a conference room, based on two large telepresence monitors on the wall. The conference table had been replaced with an unmade mattress.
Its not a good look, one source who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal told Forbes. Its yet another unspoken sign of disrespect. There is no discussion. Just like, beds showed up.

(7,887 posts)what twitter is and needs to be. Or else it is exactly what he wanted it to be: a prison for the Tweeps who must bend to his vision 24/7 or else. His enormous insecurity is telling.
I have worked for several bosses who felt they needed this level of commitment from their staff. You never get credit for what you've done. You sacrifice far more than you can get in return. TLG is one of those. Constant demands of personal loyalty work only in one direction and aren't worth the paper they're not written on. Bosses like this have a very short memory for anything you accomplish and always ask why more wasn't done to make it better. It is a recipe for burnout and depression.
If Eloon really has a coherent vision for Twitter 2.0 he's done little to plan for it other than performance goals. That's a sign of a really, really BAD executive who cannot prioritize and will not accept the needs or views of others working with him.

And forced to work through the night.
And women are going to go WTF. No way a male boss is going to put a mattress in my office.

(50,555 posts)You work at Twitter. You have a significant other. Musk hires that person too. If you need a little stress relief, the two of you head off to the barracks for a 30-minute sex break.
Only problem is, Musk has a sound level meter and posts the decibel level of the moaning to the internal website.

(9,974 posts)No employer should be able to expect employees to work 100+ hours a week. Companies have been violating the working hours of employees for decades, and we need some new protections since either the old ones dont work or arent being enforced. I worked in corporate world most of my career, and often worked 80+ hours per week, not because I wanted to but because the company refused to hire enough staff and simply expected existing staff to do the jobs of two people. As a manager, I was exempt from overtime, and corporations have used the exempt designation for many employees who are not true managers to force longer hours and no overtime. Wage theft is a huge issue among US companies. Why does Congress never seem to address this?

These are the same people who wanted 8 year olds to be factory workers. These are the same people who said Factories were made for children and children were made for factories. See even back then they knew how to manipulate propaganda.

(2,804 posts)No lock on that door. Why queen size? This amounts to what a lawyer should call sexual harassment. I hope some employees grab lots of Mr Musk's money.
And on other points we need to start agitating for workplace reforms. The Mananagement no overtime loophole needs to go. Annual Salary is for 2,000 hours maximum. After that the OT should be at time and a half extra I bet corporate America will only pay that for the best and brightest. Sick leave needs to be mandatory too. We need to look at beginning to reduce full time and eventually cap overtime to a max. The only exception should be owners no salaried employee should be forced to work beyond a maximum per week. We need to look at how much excess labor we have and see if we can transition to a fuller employment having everyone work less. This would boost the economy by having more consumption.
