Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, the former business partner of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, was sentenced to nearly 13 years in federal prison and three years of probation Wednesday for his role in the disgraced blood-test company's years-long fraud.
U.S. prosecutors have recommended Balwani, 58, receive at least 15 years in prison after he was convicted in July on 12 counts of fraud.

(33,518 posts)I said it before, imagine if Ms. Holmes were a black woman convicted of holding up a bank for $2000. Eleven years? I don't think so.
Suppose Balwani were selling cigarettes on the streets of New York. The sentence for that was death.
