While Ferrer routinely wears a mask in indoor public settings, shes very aware that few others do likewise.
It will be really hard to get back into putting on face coverings. Nobody really likes them, we understand that, Ferrer said.
But she said she thinks a mask order is worth it and, if it is implemented, it will be for a short duration.
Some essential workers are supportive of mask mandates, she added, noting the potential disruptions during periods of high transmission.

(7,428 posts)People need to get over it. I work in an industry where face masks are required all day, every day. No exceptions. They are no big deal.

(599 posts)I still wear a snug N95 under a cloth mask in enclosed public places. I get all kinds of looks for it out here in rural Trumptopia, but I look kind of feral and sketchy (on a good day) so no one says anything to me about it.

(4,664 posts)However during only our 2nd dine in meal since December of 2019, 4/6 at our table were positive 48 hours later. That was 26 days ago, I'm still positive, hubby has been negative for a week and we are both sicker than ever. He has seen the Dr several times and has to go again tomorrow. Had the other 3 not tested positive, I would never have tested, I have NO respiratory systems. I have pain in my abdomen, insomnia and itchy ears. I can smell and taste but have no appetite.

(13,017 posts)My dad is 92, lives in Georgia. Thanksgiving, I called and he was working burning brush and just finished building a big set of stairs out in his yard. My older brother, vaxed but never takes Covid as very serious, just a tough cold, visited dad and took him all over, to Cosco, to a huge Belks like store, to Red Lobster and was in public for hours. Neither believe in masks, dad did not have last booster. Last Friday he was admitted to the hospital with very difficulty breathing and a leg that went numb. Later that night he was diagnosed with Covid and Leukemia. By Saturday he had died. Sister in Law aggressively proclaimed it was mild Covid had nothing to do with his death. Have not seen Death Cert, but she said it was respiratory issues with diabetic complications. Insisted it was not Covid. So I will be going to Georgia Friday for services Saturday. Cremation, but they insist on a viewing prior to, in a tiny little chapel, and you can bet no masks. Why a viewing if you are cremating during these times? My niece in Law is a doctor from Reno. We will both be double masking and standing near the exits.
People wake up, it is far from over and coming back strong. At minimum mask. If Proud Boys and Oath Keepers can wear uncomfortable masks, damn it we can as well.
I hate going to Georgia to get my Covid. This will suck in so many ways.
One of my brothers is an anti Vax, Q believing actual Russia Spy. I would trade him for Brittany any day.
I will keep my mouth shut there and live with this, so thanks for allowing me to dump feelings.

(60,320 posts)Again? I haven't stopped yet. My MiL has long COVID and, even though her daughter/my wife has been dead 9 years, I still visit and do what I can for her. I'm one of the few, everywhere I go, who is still masking. That's fine with me.

(51,267 posts)airports, event venues, definitely.
Holiday parties, restaurants/bars, and family dinners are a risk because people will be unmasked, eating, talking, breathing lots of respiratory viruses, etc. Nobody likes me so I don't get invited to many parties.
Being an introvert has kept me safe so far. We'll see.

(6,269 posts)just last week many thousands of new cases. Not counting the home testers. Hundreds died. I go out and observe many, many maskless individuals from children to the elderly. When will we stop being so blind to the statistics? It's not over yet.

and if its anything like two weeks ago, masking will be under ten percent
Even most of the staff, working there daily, dont bother
And the few that do, arent wearing N95
Im like one of the very few who do

(31,307 posts)before i moved to NC i played weekly at least, mostly at Hollywood Park, but i started out in Gardena as a 3rd generation poker player (my grandma played in Gardena in the 1940s).
ETA when I go home I always play, until the pandemic. Skipped it when I was there in Aug2021. Missed it too; i love playing poker.
