Ron DeSantis Holds Early Lead Over Donald Trump Among GOP Primary Voters, WSJ Poll Shows

Source: Wall Street Journal

Republican primary voters have high interest in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a potential 2024 presidential nominee and view him more favorably than they do former President Donald Trump, a new Wall Street Journal poll shows.

In a hypothetical contest between the two, Mr. DeSantis beats Mr. Trump, 52% to 38%, among likely GOP primary voters contemplating a race in which the first nomination votes will be cast in just over a year.

The poll found that Mr. DeSantis is both well-known and well-liked among Republicans who say they are likely to vote in a party primary or nominating contest, with 86% viewing the Florida governor favorably, compared with 74% who hold a favorable view of Mr. Trump. One in 10 likely GOP primary voters said they didn’t know enough about Mr. DeSantis to venture an opinion of him.

Among all registered voters, Mr. DeSantis is viewed favorably by 43%, compared with 36% for the former president. Favorable views of Mr. Trump were the lowest recorded in Journal polling dating to November 2021 and have been pulled down by a decline in positive feelings among Republicans. Since March, his favorable rating among GOP voters has fallen to 74% from 85%, while the share who view him unfavorably has risen to 23% from 13%.

Desatan is every bit as evil as 45*, but he's a far better organizer and politician.

I'm fearful of what this country would be like if he won, especially if Pres. Biden only has one term in which to fix all the damage done by 45*.

7. "Anti-vax quackery": Experts "stunned" after DeSantis demands grand jury probe into COVID vaccines

It's these kind of moves that will help DeSantis supplant Trump.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/anti-vax-quackery-experts-stunned-after-desantis-demands-grand-jury-probe-into-covid-vaccines/ar-AA15h90e?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=049b56b582b34f35addb304d6e05490e

DeSantis held a roundtable with Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo and physicians before announcing his plan. DeSantis did not specify what types of purported wrongdoing the grand jury would investigate but mentioned alleged "crimes" related to vaccines.

DeSantis suggested that the grand jury may target vaccine manufacturers, arguing that the companies had not provided their data to independent researchers even though studies by vaccine manufacturers have been published in peer-reviewed journals and reviewed by public health panels before being approved.

"We'll be able to get the data whether they want to give it or not," DeSantis said. "In Florida, it is illegal to mislead and misrepresent, especially when you are talking about the efficacy of a drug."

Ladapo, who has repeatedly pushed anti-vaccine talking points, said companies need to answer for instances of myocarditis, a form of heart inflammation, that have been reported in rare cases. "We will answer this question. It is a question that I am sure keeps the CEOs of Pfizer and Moderna up late at night, hoping no one ever looks. But we're going to look here in Florida," he said, even though the risk of heart inflammation from COVID is far greater than from vaccination.

Right now this like a weather report from two years out.

I'm not sure it is entirely meaningless. But I'm thinking it might be.

There are certain core issues that the country is facing right now. But whether Trump or DeSantis ends up being the Republican nominee for the 2024 Presidential election isn't one of them.

Our country has a serious systemic infection and these two are just symptoms of that infection.

DeSantis would be as big a disaster as president as Trump was. He is just as corrupt and morally deficient as Trump, but smarter. Democrats need to start finding everything he’s ever said or done to use against him.
