Jan. 6 Panel Refers McCarthy, Three Other Republicans for Ethics Violations

Source: Politico

The Jan. 6 select committee says four House Republicans — including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy — violated congressional ethics rules by defying subpoenas for testimony and documents.

The panel referred the lawmakers for a review by the bipartisan ethics committee, which is seen as unlikely to take action against the members. In addition to McCarthy, three other lawmakers were referred for defying subpoenas: Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.).

I'm sure the GQPers will equate no action taken against them to them being innocent.

it's still best to answer subpoenas and show that repugs don't.

The Ethics Committee has many functions, but they all revolve around the standards of ethical conduct for members of the House.
Neither Barr or Holder were subject to the jurisdiction of The House Ethics Committee.
The point is these Congresscritters are being referred to the House Ethics Committee for failing to honor the subpoena of their own body (the House) at the time they were serving.

McCarthy wants to be speaker and has an ethic violation, but this may make him a shoe in

In the new rethug congress any referral to their, laughable, committee will likely result in a reward and praise and a condemnation and, as promised, a thorough investigation of the work of the J6 Committee and a determination that absolutely nothing happen and the large crowd was just some enthusiastic supporters of 45 who just wanted to say hello and visit the heart of our Democracy. Then the remaining members of the J6 Committee will be referred to the DOJ for criminal conduct. This is the the view from my desk in the flats of Oakland,

The republicans will control that committee. What are the odds that they will punish their own ?
Pretty close to zero. I expect to hear howling about witch hunt.

Regardless of which party controls the chamber. It's four of each party, no matter what.

The current committee consists of:

Democrats

Chairwoman Susan Wild, Pennsylvania

Dean Phillips, Minnesota

Veronica Escobar, Texas

Mondaire Jones, New York

r thugs

Acting Ranking Member Michael Guest, Mississippi

Dave Joyce, Ohio

John H. Rutherford, Florida

Kelly Armstrong, North Dakota

---

Not that it will make any difference who's in charge of the House. I doubt that one of the r thugs on the committee would flip on any of their colleagues.

But it is important to understand how the committee's composition is independent of which party is in charge of the House.

Show up when they issue the subpoenas and then every time they ask a question answer back
why didn't the republicans show up to answer questions. Answer that way every time a republican ask, only
answer the Democrat's questions. What are the republicans going to do, yell, scream, cry. Make them
waste their time.
