KYIV, Ukraine (AP) Multiple regions of Ukraine, including its capital, faced a massive Russian missile attack Thursday, the biggest wave of strikes in weeks targeting power stations and other critical infrastructure during freezing weather.
Air raid sirens rang out across the country. Ukraines military chief, Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said preliminary data showed Russia fired 69 missiles at energy facilities and Ukrainian forces shot down 54 of them. There were no immediate reports of any deaths.
Russia dispatched explosive drones to selected regions overnight before broadening the barrage with air and sea-based cruise missiles launched from strategic aircraft and ships in the morning, the Ukrainian air force reported.
The widespread attack was the latest in a series of Russian strikes on power and water supplies that have increased the Ukrainian populations suffering. Moscow has launched such attacks on a weekly basis since October, while its ground forces struggle to advance.

(7,367 posts)A lot of "Russia is almost out of missiles" came from the UK (and the UK is known for being pro's at propaganda) press and gets picked up here as it's what we all want to hear. It's how you maintain public support.
The article showing that missiles hitting Ukraine were made recently as October however, gets no traction as its not what we want to hear.

I'll go out on a limb and say they probably have quietly built a small semi-conductor military business or two, and the articles during the unleash of sanctions may have exaggerated on Russia's lack of capabilities. They had to know this could be a problem awhile back and took quiet steps to correct it. Developing the chips they needed but not putting them on the open market and continuing to buy chips from the outside.
And the article that says Ukraine's casualties are about the same as Russia's also gets pushed to the back burner.

Hence why I'm leaning on trusting some US sources that say this war may be going on for awhile.
