New York judge denies motion from Trump and family to dismiss $250 million lawsuit

Source: CNN

A New York state judge on Friday denied motions from former President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump to dismiss the New York attorney general’s $250 million lawsuit, finding some of the arguments “frivolous.”

Judge Arthur Engoron had previously rejected several of the Trumps’ legal arguments when he imposed a monitor on the Trump Organization last year.

On Friday, in a written order, he ruled that the Trumps’ repetition of the arguments was “frivolous.”

“Reading these arguments was, to quote the baseball sage Lawrence Peter (‘Yogi’) Berra, ‘Déjà vu all over again,’” the judge wrote.

Engoron had considered imposing sanctions on the Trumps’ lawyers but decided against it.

“Sophisticated defense counsel should have known better,” the judge wrote, adding, “In its discretion this Court will not impose sanctions, which the Court believes are unnecessary, having made its point.”

Hopefully on the next go-around sanctions and fines will be imposed.

my 'read' of his decision was that he could have (maybe SHOULD have) placed sanctions on the attorneys involved, but felt that they had their 'smack-upside-the-head' enough and would just stop already.
But then again, I also thought that once IQ45 vacated the White House we'd never hear of him again.......

He's suffered zero consequences so far from everything he has done. Including taking classified documents from the White House. Something like that would have landed ordinary citizens like you or me in jail very promptly. Meanwhile, the DOJ seems to be pussy-footing it around what they need to do.

ARREST THE SOB!! TAKE HIM TO JAIL! TREAT HIM EXACTLY AS YOU WOULD ANY OTHER CITIZEN WHO TOOK CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS HOME.

with bigger pockets than you, eh, IQ4.5?

The government isn't some mom-and-pop contractor in South Jersey who sunk everything into their business and struggles to stay afloat and can afford only so much legal action before they have to cave. The government has hundred of billions to back them up. They can not only get real lawyers to work for them--they can outlast your grifting heiny.

You're getting to learn how all those people you sued into silence are feeling, Darth Tax eVader, and you've had that lesson coming to you for far too long.

Sucks to be you, scumbag.

(It's only 9 pages)

The judge doesn't sanction the lawyers, but I got the sense that he felt that the legal smack-down he did on their arguments and the embarrassment involved should be enough.

He really spanked them.

If you dont know where you’re going you’ll end up someplace else.

Kinda like trump and his lawyers. They think they’re going towards a dismissal and away from jail cells.. they don’t know where they’re going, ergo I defer to that great philosopher Yogi Berra, they will end up someplace else.

And to close Friday evening on a light note:

Yogi’s wife asked him what cemetery he wanted her to bury him in. Yogi replied, surprise me.

And then Yogi told Kevin McCarthy, when you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Night, Y’all
