Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas dismisses Republican calls to resign over border

Source: ABC News

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday rebuffed calls from leading Republicans to step aside -- or risk impeachment -- and underscored the critical nature of managing migration challenges "gripping" the Western Hemisphere.

In an interview with ABC "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos, Mayorkas said he has no plans of resigning.

Stephanopoulos cited this warning from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in November: "If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate. Every order, every action and every failure will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry."

-snip-

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, last year accused Mayorkas of failing "to enforce immigration law and secure the border through all means necessary."

If perv enabler Gym Jordan is in charge of the investigation, there's nothing to worry about.

They've looked stupid for the last 6 years; probably longer but I only started observing in 2016.

They just want to bitch about the Biden administration to distract the attention away from them. They're going to open up the Hunter laptop issue again, investigate Biden on the Afghan withdrawal which will lead to an impeachment discussion, investigate the FBI, investigate Fauci and the covid origin...what did I leave out?

I can't remember if there was evidence of McCarthy having any involvement with planning the coup but pretty sure Jordan did and some of the others. I'm looking forward to seeing them subpoenaed by DOJ to sit before a grand jury.

Just rewards...

several times in their nominating speeches. They also mentioned "unfair" efforts to slow down or prevent covid infections...they focused on negative aspects of anything they can whip up against the Dems.

Not looking forward to any of this stuff. They are determined to cause as much pain to the majority of us as they can. We are their enemy no matter what we did or do.

I am counting on the Senate and Biden to get us through the next two years. Maybe in 2024 people will have had their fill of Repub vitriole, and they will vote more of them out of office. Really want to see them in the rearview mirror.
