RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) No amnesty! No amnesty! No amnesty!
The chant reverberated off the walls of the jam-packed hall at the University of Sao Paulos law college on Monday afternoon. Hours later, it was the rallying cry for thousands of Brazilians who streamed into the streets of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, penned on protest posters and banners.
The words are a demand for retribution against supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro who stormed Brazils capital Sunday, and those who enabled the rampage.
These people need to be punished, the people who ordered it need to be punished, those who gave money for it need to be punished, Bety Amin, a 61-year-old therapist, said on Sao Paulos main boulevard. The word DEMOCRACY stretched across the back of her shirt. They dont represent Brazil. We represent Brazil.

(21,349 posts)He only has a business Visa, what business is he doing here?
People don't ask the right questions. It is obvious that his coming to Florida was planned by someone.
I know when I worked out of the country on business I was usually questioned about why locals couldn't do the work? I once worked in Moncton, NB and my work Visa ran out, I had to drive to Maine to the border where my company sent a new Visa.
laws only apply to the unwashed.

(21,349 posts)What diplomatic "business" is he doing now? Does his visa still allow him to be in the US? When I worked in foreign countries once I got in the country that didn't allow me to stay there forever. When my work visa expired I had to either get a new visa or leave the country.
I apologize for being wrong about his type of visa, but it does nothing to dispute my question, why is he still here? is he on diplomatic business, with whom, Ron DeSantis, Steve Bannon?

(9,359 posts)He planned to stay in the US until the end of January, 20 days from now. Lula da Silva became Brazil's president on January 1, ten days ago. The anti-government riots in Brazil happened on January 6, four days ago. A US A-1 (diplomatic) visa is effective for 30 days, regardless of changes in a recipient's status.
So, to answer your questions,
-No, he is not doing any diplomatic business now, nor does his status as an A-1 recipient demand him to do any.
-Yes, his visa still allows him to be in the US, until it is officially revoked or suspended or until it expires.
-When Bolsonaro's visa expires, he will have to leave the country or get a new visa, just like you did. If the visa is revoked or suspended, Bolsonaro will have to leave the country, just like you would.
Bolsonaro recently expressed intention to leave before his visa expires. If you are proposing that these circumstances call for the US government to drop everything and take immediate action that will generate international diplomatic uproar, not to mention create weeks of fodder for global conservative media to bash Biden, please, lower your expectations.

(21,349 posts)he said that violence is a part of the authoritarian playbook. Destroying government buildings is a part of the playbook that is meant to diminish the value of government agencies. The expert said that if the people committing physical crimes are not held accountable that only confirms the weakness of the government they are trying to overthrow. he said it is a good sign that Brazil immediately arrested the insurrectionists, it sent a message that there will be consequences.

(8,744 posts)Can we call MTG and her cult Americans?
If these were not nasty brown people and she could do it without getting any brown in her, MTG would be down there on a knee praying with them in jail. With Bannon, who pushed for the attacks. Lets Banish Bannon, who should be in jail here for multiple reasons AND conviction, to the streets of Brazil so those that are furious can carry out their justice. All those nasty shirts would not protect him from that beating.

If you want the insurrectionists jailed and their leaders too, you protest in the street.
We need a cohesive leader to get the protests started. We're ready.
