Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg sentenced to 5 months' imprisonment
Source: NBC News
Allen Weisselberg, former chief financial officer for the Trump Organization, was sentenced Tuesday to five months behind bars for his role in the company's sweeping 15-year tax fraud scheme.
Weisselberg, 75, was sentenced in accordance with his guilty plea during an appearance before acting Justice Juan Merchan in New York criminal court and was taken to New York's notorious Rikers Island jail immediately after the proceeding.
When taking into account the typical amount of time off for good behavior, Weisselberg is likely to serve about 100 days. He also paid over $2 million in taxes and penalties and will receive five years of probation.
As part of his deal with prosecutors, Weisselberg could have faced added time behind bars if he did not testify truthfully at trial, which ended with the Trump Organization being convicted of all counts. There are no public court filings that suggest Weisselbergs testimony was not truthful, and prosecutors did not ask the judge to revisit the agreed-upon jail sentence.

CNN A Manhattan jury has found two Trump Organization companies guilty on multiple charges of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records connected to a 15-year scheme to defraud tax authorities by failing to report and pay taxes on compensation for top executives. The Trump Corp. and Trump Payroll Corp. were found guilty on all charges they faced.
Donald Trump and his family were not charged in this case, but the former president was mentioned repeatedly during the trial by prosecutors about his connection to the benefits doled out to certain executives, including company-funded apartments, car leases and personal expenses.
The Trump Organization could face a maximum of $1.61 million in fines when sentenced in mid-January. The company is not at risk of being dismantled because there is no mechanism under New York law that would dissolve the company. However, a felony conviction could impact its ability to do business or obtain loans or contracts.
The guilty verdict comes as Trump is under scrutiny by federal and state prosecutors for his handling of classified documents, the effort to overturn the 2020 election results, and the accuracy of the Trump Organizations business records and financial statements. He is also facing a $250 million civil lawsuit from the New York attorney general alleging he and his adult children were involved in a decade-long fraud. The attorney general is seeking to permanently bar them from serving as an officer or director of a company in New York state, among other penalties.

It adds into the various additional cases going on against his and his children's corporation, becoming part of the evidence trail... It starts cutting off their $$$ from that source.
That sentencing is due shortly, supposedly "mid month" (this month).

(14,752 posts)It's probably a shell that doesn't have direct ownership of the properties. It may just receive royalties every month and those could be cut off.
I'll believe it actually pays a fine when I hear it.
Still, I suppose it is something. But 3 months is still light. He doesn't have to pay back the ill gotten gains?

(129,025 posts)Clean them out through fines and penalties and threats of fines or penalties until they have to file for (phony) bankruptcy. We have been watching that play out with Alex Jones.
And they updated the article (and I updated the OP) so he paid $2,000,000 for back taxes/fines/penalties before the gray goose ride to Riker's.

(16,926 posts)when he actually did appear to testify in the trial for which he got a 'plea bargain' and did not 'deliver' the message that was expected. He 'said' he'd 'tell the truth' and there were claims that he did not.
Out of that there was some speculation that he had violated his 'plea agreement' and would thus face a more aggressive sentence.
Any ideas about that?
