George Santos told Brazilian media that he survived an assassination attempt, MSNBC reports
Source: Business Insider
Hannah Getahun and Matthew Loh Jan 24, 2023, 12:22 AM Embattled New York Rep. George Santos told Brazilian media in December that he was the victim of a series of crimes, including an assassination attempt and a mugging on Fifth Avenue. In a clip uncovered by the "Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBC, Santos tells the podcast Radio Novela Apresenta that his home was vandalized in January of 2021 simply because he was a Republican. "I'm going to a New Year's Eve party with my husband. We go back to our house, it was vandalized because we were at a Republican Party in Florida in December 2020," Santos told the hosts, according to the Rachel Maddow Show translation. "So that's it. I've experienced vandalism." Santos then makes another claim: Someone tried to take his life. Read more: https://www.businessinsider.com/george-santos-brazilian-media-assassination-attempt-2023-1

11. FWIW, of all the lies he's been inventing lately,
I suppose this could have a kernel of truth, at least by his perception:
He might consider a simple jostle or shove on the subway to be an attempted mugging or getting his finger slammed in a cab door an assassination attempt. Right? I mean we are talking George Santos here. ![]() |

13. Good question. I suppose it has to be created before believed?
Whether created out of thin air or grandly modified from something that actually does happen, something is getting traction for him.
A DU'er today posted something that crossed my mind a few weeks ago: Maybe he's actually pranking folks? For whatever reason, he may be pulling off some monster Jon Lovitz/Andy Kaufman stunt. Punking the public because of some reward somewhere? Keeping the spotlight off the House and its intentions? Or maybe he can't help himself because of some disorder, in which case he needs to be evaluated and treated. More likely IMO, he's found a way in his life to defraud people and until now has been successful by flying below the radar and out of the spotlight. I gotta say I'm just throwing spitballs because I've never seen anything like this unless they're nuts or comedians. |

15. Good look at the possibilities here.
I think we're all throwing spitballs. But here's the thing. We really have seen this before -- look at the groomed delusions that trumcult carry, that FL man himself carries around.
It's collective insanity, and there's no mass therapy for it, just arresting what's criminal, correcting the public's perceptions of these people, and inviting everyone who's sane to get on with the future. Reminding people to give up this bullshit cover for politics, and help our descendants have a livable future. |

If your house is vandalized and you arrive home AFTER the crime, how do you know it was because of your political beliefs? Burglars don't usually leave behind a written motive, do they?

32. Well he did that to himself
Nobody held a gun to his head and told him to lie.
I think the way to get him kicked out of the House is to demand that he prove that he's really "George Santos." The voters of New York elected "George Santos" and there's no proof that it's his real name. He should at least show his U.S. Passport (a current one) and prove that he's a US citizen and that's his real name. The first clue: he probably can't do it. ![]() ![]() |
