Liz Truss: I was never given 'realistic chance' to enact tax-cuts

Source: BBC News

"Liz Truss has said she was never given a "realistic chance" to implement her radical tax-cutting agenda by her party.

In a 4,000-word essay in the Sunday Telegraph, Ms Truss stood by her plans to boost economic growth, arguing they were brought down by "the left-wing economic establishment".

...

Her brief time in power - 49 days - made her the shortest-serving prime minister in UK history.

Ms Truss said that while her experience last autumn was "bruising for me personally", she believed that over the medium term her policies would have increased growth and therefore brought down debt."

The headline in the Torygraph is peak delusion - "the left wing economic establishment". Britain would be on course for the sunlit uplands of Brexit had it not been for those pinko investment bankers and commie currency traders...

Imagine a British accent for greater effect.

It is essential that conservative governance be forced upon our peoples, against their wishes. But how else will we subjugate them to the people who really care? It’s really quite simple and yet the proletariat continue, in an unseemly manner to voice unfounded objections.

the Tories gave everybody Sunak. A mini Boris who immediately got himself caught in the lie that he had no idea about Covid profiteering checks to a member of the Upper Chamber. Even though he was the one writing and signing the checks. The Tories clearly would have a problem running a successful one car funeral procession. They screwed themselves into their Brexit mess and now seem to be secretly pushing to return a hard border on the 6 counties. The party that never did anything but give grudging lip service to the Good Friday Agreement and has acted as an obstacle by supporting DUP foot dragging any way they can. Combined with sandbagging any meaningful investigations into things like the British military involvement in the killing of human rights lawyer Pat Finucane.

that declared her 'plan' bat sh*t crazy.

It takes some major stupid (and cray-cray) to set the markets and bankers completely on fire - have your natural allies baying for blood - and bring down your own government in the space of a week. Most would have sworn it couldn't be done. But - you gotta' hand it to Liz ....

the same old song...their crackpot economic fantasies have never succeeded because they never get the chance to fully enact them. Just give them the chance, and we'll all live in paradise!
