China threatens US entities over balloon incident

BEIJING (AP) China said Wednesday it will take measures against U.S. entities related to the downing of a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the American East Coast.
At a daily briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin gave no details and did not identify the targets of the measures.
China says the balloon was a unmanned weather airship that was accidentally blown off course and accuses the U.S. of overreacting in bringing it down with a missile fired from an F-22 fighter jet.
Since the Feb. 4 downing of the balloon, the United States has sanctioned six Chinese entities it said are linked to Beijings aerospace programs.

(6,781 posts)They have been exposed constantly of making threats, failing to back up those threats, then trying to say they want to play peacemaker.
Anything a 2nd grade schoolyard bully would do the CCP will do. It isn't being strong, it's the appearance of being strong.
When Pelosi when to Taiwan, the CCP said it would retaliate violently and ending up shooting missiles into the ocean, killing fish and doing nothing about Pelosi.
Same with every arms deal with Taiwan.
All bark, no bite and the faster people realize China is the thinnest of paper tigers, the faster you will realize that their military is worse than the Russian military in Ukraine.

(12,554 posts)It was never meant to fly over the continental US.
U.S. monitors watched as the balloon settled into a flight path that would appear to have taken it over the U.S. territory of Guam. But somewhere along that easterly route, the craft took an unexpected northern turn, according to several U.S. officials, who said that analysts are now examining the possibility that China didnt intend to penetrate the American heartland with its airborne surveillance device.

Your link says "Weather diverted the Chinese spy balloon from Guam to the US."
The fact that it wasn't quite maneuverable enough to battle a strong jet stream isn't much to hang one's hat on when it comes to telling the truth. In both cases, China flat-out lied about the intent of the balloon, which is the meat of the matter.
