Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity discussed wanting a Fox News reporter fired after she pushed back on Trump's election lies
Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity discussed trying to have a Fox reporter fired for a fact-checking tweet.
The Fox News commentators took issue with the reporter's rejection of Trump's 2020 election lies.
A new court filing in Dominion Voting Systems' lawsuit again Fox includes troves of text messages.
Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity discussed trying to have a Fox News reporter fired in November 2020 after she publicly pushed back against then-President Donald Trump's election lies, according to a new court filing.
A 200-page motion for summary judgment in Dominion Voting Systems' defamation lawsuit against Fox News released Thursday includes several deposition excerpts, as well as texts from top Fox News figures, including anchors Carlson, Hannity, and owner Rupert Murdoch, detailing the panic and acrimony permeating Fox News in the aftermath of Trump's loss to then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Fox News was the first network to call Biden's win in Arizona on November 3, 2020, setting off fury and fear among Fox employees after several Trump allies eviscerated the network for its projection, according to the court documents. Carlson worried in text messages, cited in the motion for summary judgment, that the call would destroy Fox's "credibility," suggesting to a producer that Trump could "easily destroy us if we play it wrong."
In the days following the election, the network's coverage became increasingly focused on Dominion Voting Systems as Trump and others in his camp spread baseless allegations about voting machine fraud, according to court documents and prior reporting.

We could sure use more Truth (not Social), and Justice, and a more progressive manifestation of the American Way.
P.S. this librarian, retired, deeply appreciates your signature line. Im sure my mom, of blessed memory, is there.

(15,253 posts)I am so sorry to learn of your loss. There is no higher calling than Motherhood.
Please know, I adore librarians. During Bush II, librarians stood up to the nations fascist warmongers; and I thanked them publicly and loudly at every occasion. Today, I am so proud to write, my daughter is a librarian.
As for Borges, if you havent read them, you may enjoy The Library at Babel and The Aleph. Here are PDFs:

You likely have read them, if not all of Borges, thatcrowwoman. In that case, sorry to be so pedantic. It is my hope that another DUer gets to enjoy letters.

And good for your daughter. Librarians can change lives.
My last library was in a public high school. In the panhandle of Florida. I worked hard to make it a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Broke my heart the first year I was closed for testing more than 90 days of the 180 day school year. I moved a rolling book cart as my bookmobile into the hallway. Had books available for check out, and took requests for books to be picked up between classes, during lunch or after school or delivered to their home room. Until I was made a test administrator.
I retired 6 years ago and moved home to the mountains. Id probably be arrested if I still worked in Florida. Thank goodness for the American Library Association and local, state and national Education Associations.

(382 posts)Fox "news" says they are worth only 80 million. Sounds like there might be a new owner of the pile of shit. I hope they can reach further into the wealth of Rupert Murdoch and cause him so much pain he drops dead.

(26 posts)Every time some sort of gossipy cess slides down off the Fox Bullshit Mountain, it seems to reveal that their premium talent are nothing but a bunch of figurative "Mean Girls". Bitching and back-biting and trying to position themselves as the favourite of the perceived political alpha out there. Murdock, DeSantis, Trump. Who has their ear, who has access, etcetera, etcetera.
Sadly, this never seems to deter the die hards. Even as the MAGA regressives look for even farther right wing media, they seem to keep an ear and an eye on Fox. They don't bridge the gap between noticing this kind of behavior and noticing that these same people are manipulating them strictly to curry favor.

(33,504 posts)The Dominion document released Thursday notes that Heinrich "accurately fact-checked the tweet," pointing out that top election officials had said there was no evidence of any voting systems deleting, losing, or changing votes in the election.
Carlson and Hannity apparently did not take kindly to her public rejection of Trump's messaging.
"Please get her fired. Seriously...What the f***?" Carlson wrote in a text to his colleagues, according to the filing. "I'm actually shocked...It needs to stop immediately, like tonight. It's measurably hurting the company. The stock price is down. Not a joke."
Note that his concern was Stock value.
