Manchin, on Fox News, Refuses to Call Himself a Democrat

Source: Rolling Stone

SENATOR JOE MANCHIN, an alleged Democrat, went on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo — the Sunday morning equivalent of Tucker Carlson — and declined to identify as a member of the Democratic Party. That’s right, the senator who jokes with Republicans about switching parties, is now claiming he is an “American” instead of a Democrat.

“Do you still identify as a Democrat?” Bartiromo asked the senator at the conclusion of the interview.

“I will be involved in any way I can to help,” Manchin said.

“Do you still identify as a Democrat?” the host repeated. “I identify as an American,” the senator replied.

That's why, as much as he's irritated me as well, we need to pull as much as we can for Sen. Manchin next year (unless he switches parties, of course).

Jay Rockefeller was a big proponent of the Iraq War. I emailed him on the subject way back when and he replied with Saddam has WMDs. He made it sound like he knew for sure when Hans Blix hadn’t even gotten to check in Iraq. It wasn’t until he was out of office that he admitted he was wrong.

And Justice was a very popular governor, with something like a 70% job approval. Democrats need to count this Senate seat as lost in 2024 unless Justice decides not to challenge Manchin.
