Proud Boy Tusitala 'Tiny' Toese guilty on 10 counts in Portland street clash

A notorious street brawler is facing years in state prison after he was convicted Thursday of inciting and then participating in a melee outside an abandoned Kmart in east Portland in 2021.
Multnomah County Circuit Judge Amy Baggio cited a prosecutor’s “aid and abet” theory as she found Tusitala “Tiny” Toese guilty on 10 of 11 counts at the end of a three-day bench trial.
Toese, 26, issued fiery invective during the Aug. 22 rally of fellow right-wing Proud Boys, then egged on a clash as left-wing anti-fascist counterprotesters arrived at the edge of the shuttered store’s parking lot. The two sides fired paintball guns, hurled fireworks and threw punches as they brawled, with cars whizzing past on Northeast 122nd Avenue all the while.
Prosecutors were unable to prove that Toese physically hurt anyone, but the judge found him guilty of two counts of second-degree assault of a counterprotester, saying Toese had spurred on the brutal beatdown committed by his compatriots.
The felony carries a mandatory five years and 10 months sentence in state prison.

These boys have nothing to be proud of
I thought the Proud Boys were white supremacists, but he's not....white?

I first heard of the PBs in connection with Charlottesville, and that event was so strongly connected with white supremacy in my mind that I guess I just assumed all the groups involved were in that particular "basket of deplorables."
Reading the SPLC writeup that I quoted above, it sounds like the PBs are over the place ideologically, but at least some of them are definitely white supremacists and/or white naionalists. So I feel like I wasn't completely wrong.
Stage 1: The first stage is a loyalty oath, on the order of "I'm a proud Western chauvinist, I refuse to apologize for creating the modern world";
Stage 2: getting punched until the person recites pop culture trivia, such as the names of five breakfast cereals;
Stage 3: getting a tattoo and agreeing to not masturbate;
Stage 4: getting into a major fight "for the cause"
Is it possible that 3(b) might be the cause of some of their aggressive behavior?
