Comer claims it was a 'mistake' for Trump not to bomb Mexican meth labs

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said it was a mistake for former President Donald Trump not to bomb fentanyl and crystal meth labs in Mexico despite the country being an ally of the United States.................

“One of the things we learned post-Trump presidency is that he had ordered a bombing of a couple of fentanyl labs, crystal meth labs, in Mexico, just across the border, and for whatever reason, the military didn’t do it,” Comer said. “I think that was a mistake.”

Trump allegedly proposed firing missiles into Mexico in 2020, making the suggestion to then-Defense Secretary Mark Esper. Trump apparently said they would be able to keep the attack a secret and that no one would be able to trace it back to the U.S.

Esper, who wrote about the exchange in his book A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Defense Secretary in Extraordinary Times, said he was stunned at the suggestion. When asked about the exchange, Trump said he had no comment. ........................................................................

are still in operation. It would take an event on the scale of the bombing of Iraq during the invasion to make any meaningful dent in Cartels and their production. Such an act of war is clearly out of the question as well as pointless.

In Columbia the same response was tried and much the same result has occurred. Some of the people died, some of the product and labs were destroyed, and within a short time the cartels replaced them all and continued production.

The cartels have enormous cash reserves which enables both the corruption needed to stay in business and the flexibility to respond to the actions proposed by Comer and others.

If you are going after the cartels you have to grab their money first. So far they have better banking and political connections than law enforcement has the tools and information to stop.

Prohibition did not work is blamed for the increase in crime and most likely gave rise to the mafia. The War on Drugs has been an abysmal failure and has done little more than enrich drug cartels and fuel violence. Drugs and alcohol are crutches. Some people have a harder time avoiding them than others, but treating drug use as moral failure rather than a health issue has gotten us nowhere.

If we legalize drugs and tax them as we do alcohol, the money could be used for drug education programs aimed at preventing teens and others from using drugs and drug treatment programs to help people get off drugs.

However, there is one whole aspect you do not address. I don't know if you do it because you don't know of it, do not think it worthwhile, or have never experienced it yourself. I pray, for you, it's the latter.

Too many people are being forced to the street because of pain clinics or doctors because their being forced off their legal meds. It's not because they're doing any wrong. It's not because they're "addicted" and it's not because they're selling them. Gods forbid. It's because they're taking them as they've been prescribed. Unfortunately, it's because the body, itself, grows a tolerance for them. And what works for a few months grows a tolerance and what works well begins to not work as well. Where one pill works well for a while, suddenly doesn't work as well, and needs two pills to work the same magic.

Now, this "magic" isn't any "good" feeling. Understand this. Because until I was put in this position I never did. It's not a good feeling. It's not a feeling like pot gives you; it's not a cocaine high. Or any kind of "high" that I ever experienced. I never understood why anyone would want these kinds of pills. Even muscle relaxants. I've got enough muscle relaxants in this house to supply every friend I have, but I detest them. All they do is put me to sleep. Other than to escape the pain, why in the world would I want to take them??? Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, even Fentanyl (I assume), allows one to simply function. It doesn't take the pain away. I wish to god it would!!!!!!!!! It takes the edge off the pain enough to allow you to walk, to use your body in the way everyone else does. Yesterday and the day before it allowed me to use my body enough to clean my bedroom to the point I'm not ashamed to have anyone see it. To lay down in bed and feel the joy of slipping in between clean sheets. It'd been 3 months since I'd had that feeling. Why should I have to live like that? But I have to portion out my meds to make sure I have enough to make sure all my responsibilities are met. Taken as prescribed, I'm only allowed 4 per day. I've been with the same doctor 30 years. She knows what hell my body has been through. The surgeries, the fusions, and now the lupus and fibromyalgia.

I talked all this over with her one time, when the scare tactics first came out. She told me something I've never forgotten. She told me you're not addicted. You're dependent on this medicine (hydrocodone). You're dependent on this medicine to live life. And she's correct. I am dependent on this medicine to live life. Other wise, I may as well just lay down and die, cause I'm no good to anyone, let alone myself.

Are there teens drawn to this as they are to coke, pot, beer, gambling, and every other risky behavior out there? No freaking doubt. And there are probably 100 different better ways to deal with it than the ways we've been dealing with it than the racist way we've been dealing with for the past 50 years.

Hubby, who once, as a teen, was a heroin addict, says those addicts to this type of drug lack something in themselves to see themselves as someone worthy of love - both giving and receiving love. I don't know if that's all there is to that, but it may be a place to start. Of course, that may be too "woke" in todays world.

Sorry if that didn't make sense. I've got fibro brain today, and just about bed with it, too boot. But this is a particular boogaboo of mine.

I’m fortunate never to have used drugs (other than wine and very little hard liquor) or to have experienced the kind of severe pain you describe. For that, I’m grateful.

I do remember reading a few online comments last year by people who needed Oxycontin just for maintenance so they could dull the pain enough to function but were having a hard time getting it because doctors just stopped prescribing it for them. That needs more work and more understanding of the need. I’m so sorry you have the pain you do, and thank you for pointing out this need. If we had better treatment centers, perhaps getting needed meds there would help.

Are they going to bomb the meth labs here too?
If so, I hope they warn us.

My rural TN neighbor lives about 3 acres away but I can see him because he's on top the highest hill. His barn exploded about a year after we moved to our farm. It wasn't a beautiful old wooden barn but a new metal construction barn. The sound was deafening. He claims it wasn't a meth lab but I don't believe him.

The roof landed in the field across from our house. We got some hinky story about the explosion but it follows the pattern of a drug operation. Sudden wealth but with no apparent job. Very secretive and rude.

He's since moved. Probably made enough money to buy a better meth lab.

Two Israeli brothers die at the hands of a Palestinian.

So Israel shoots up a refugee camp (Jineen (sp?)) and six Palestinians die. How many families are touched by that? How many sons and daughters grow up without one parent or the other or both?

How many sons and daughters get radicalized and forever committed to kill Israelis and/or jews? After 70 years, how is that working out?

Violent Comer thinks the simple Israeli solution will similarly bring drug peace.

All those Palestinians belonged to terrorist gangs, and are now considered martyrs for the cause. Despite that, the security forces attempt arrests, not executions, unlike in Mexico. The US and Mexico green lighted El Águila's teams for more than a decade. Some of his teams operations were straight up hits.

Years ago, I saw a documentary that showed Native American teens huffing gas fumes out of paper bags and I was horrified. I came to the conclusion that people who ingest things that kill their brain cells, rot their teeth, ruin them, kill them have no joy in their present or hope in their future. We must change that.

Trying the killer stuff isn't about addiction. It is about despair. That condition has no physical boundaries. Anybody who thinks one country is responsible is an ass.

Many soldiers in Vietnam became heroin addicts, but when they returned home to their loved ones and a supportive environment, most found it quite easy to quit. We will NEVER "win" the drug war by going after suppliers. It's a lucrative business, and you can lock one gang up, but others will take their place. Improve people's lives. Provide education, affordable housing and good jobs. People have to have HOPE.

About a week after you get to basic training you will go into a classroom and your company commander will teach you that it is your DUTY to disobey an illegal order. You have no choice in this matter: if someone issues you an illegal order and you obey it, it's not the order giver who will be hung out to dry.

"Bomb fentanyl and crystal meth labs in Mexico, an ally of the United States" is about the most illegal order I can think of ever having been issued.
