Israeli airstrike kills Hamas commander in Gaza Strip

Source: WaPo

Ahmed Jabari, the commander of the military wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City, Hamas officials said.

Israel confirmed the killing, which it said marked the "beginning" of an operation that apparently comes in retaliation for a recent wave of heavy rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. Jabari, long wanted by Israel, is the most senior Hamas official to be killed since Israeli forces invaded Gaza four years ago.

I don't think Hamas has that much control over the smaller militant groups hack89 Nov 2012 #2

More than 12,000 rockets have been fired into Israel at civilians in the last 11 years.

In the few days over 100 rockets a DAY have been falling on over one million civilians in southern Israel.

A targeted response to this is the definition of restraint. The US would have carpet bombed the whole region with cluster bombs by now.

In Sderot you have 15 seconds to get to a bomb shelter once the alarm or Tzeva Adom sounds. Here's some video of what that's like.

Each one of these goes off with more force than a car bomb and has imbedded shrapnel meant to wound and tear flesh. These are fired indiscriminately at civilian populations. These are not bottle rockets.

Here are the numbers of civilians affected by this:

Then we'll talk about the thousands of Palestinians killed by Israel's heavy handed responses.

then play the victim when some strike back. You need more excuses to make more war. Israel is very good at instigating trouble. There are enough morally retarded and stupid people in this world that will fall for their act. That's a pretty good scam.

Israel's election is coming soon, it's time to send in more reparations for the Palestinians – bombs away.

There was no blockade after Israel pulled out.

The blockade was in response to the firing of rockets by the terrorists in order to prevent them from acquiring more dangerous missiles than these so called 'Firecrackers".

But all that childishness aside, once again, how many casualties from that massive amount of deadly rocket fire were there? Was it zero?
