The judge handling the civil lawsuit of E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump says jurors personal information will be kept confidential and other security measures will be taken to protect them, citing the former presidents history of attacking the legal system.
Judge Lewis Kaplan noted Trumps most recent comments surrounding the Manhattan District Attorneys investigation into alleged hush money payments adult film star Stormy Daniels as a reason to protect jurors as much as possible
Mr. Trumps quite recent reaction to what he perceived as an imminent threat of indictment by a grand jury sitting virtually next door to this Court was to encourage protest and to urge people to take our country back. That reaction reportedly has been perceived by some as incitement to violence, Kaplan wrote in an order Thursday.
And it bears mention that Mr. Trump repeatedly has attacked courts, judges, various law enforcement officials and other public officials, and even individual jurors in other matters, the judge added.

(27,454 posts)he could end this now by providing a DNA sample. He said he would but still hasnt.
Unless something unreported has changed, he refused to submit DNA until after the deadline. When he then said he would submit it (to slow things down) the Court declined.
Whats stopping him from doing it anyway?

(930 posts)1. It would have delayed the trial significantly to re-open discovery
2. Carroll's lawyers had 3 years to compel Trump to provide DNA, and did not do so, from which the judge concluded that it was not a key part of their case
3. Trump's offer was made only on the condition of the other side providing additional documents
4. Also the judge said "that a positive match of Trump's DNA to that on the dress would prove only that there had been an encounter between Trump and Carroll on a day when she wore the dress, but that it would not prove or disprove that a rape occurred and might prove entirely inconclusive."
