Donald Trump vows to escalate attacks against Alvin Bragg - sources
Source: Guardian/US
Donald Trump has told advisers and associates in recent days that he is prepared to escalate attacks against the Manhattan prosecutor who resurrected the criminal prosecution into his hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016 now that a grand jury has indicted him.
The former president has vowed to people close to him that he wants to go on the offensive and in a private moment over the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida that demonstrates his gathering resolve remarked using more colorful language that it was time to politically rough em up.
[snip]
But the latest charged language reflects Trumps determination to double down on those attacks as he returns to his time-tested playbook of brawling with prosecutors, especially when faced with legal trouble that he knows he cannot avoid, people close to him said.

I wonder if the Judge will order a GAG order to shut him up?
I hope so!!
He has a leak amongst his "friends".

(81,121 posts)The judge is going to have to get real and set some clear boundaries.
And be willing to throw Trump in jail.
We are soon going to find out if Trump is the most important person in the US
criminal justice system or if anyone else matters.

(81,121 posts)Is Trump the only one they care about?
Or will the judiciary protect the jury, prosecutors and public.
Trump is threatening riots and violence.
Do the rest of us count or just Trump?
Time will tell.
So far judges are OK with school children being slaughtered with military grade weapons.
It doesn't look good that they will care what Trump does to us either.

Everything then just fizzles.
Death threats intimidate everyone.
And he has threatened the American people with carnage and riots.
If the American judiciary cannot stand up to Trump at long last,
we are sunk as a nation. Mob bosses rule the country.

(912 posts)...been registered and himself arraigned there probably isn't whole a lot the judicial system can do till then to stifle him. Technically the case against him is not in the courts yet. As you said, we'll see.

(4,676 posts)family. To truly minimize damage he can do, put him behind bars and give him a fast trial imo. As much as I would love to see the corpulent fucker quiet, I think if it were done, It may be in stages. First tfg, When the lawyers do what lawyers do then, gag the lawyers. When the family members pick up the bull horn. Then gag the family members. See where I am going with this?
Bragg has a conundrum. I don't know if there is such a thing as a blanket gag order. The question would be. Could he tfg attain what it wants through intermediaries, if so...

(14,678 posts)Trump would scoff at that order, and probably dedicate a special extra-vindictive all caps response.
What's the judge going to do? Duct tape his mouth? Even fining him for breaking it would mean nothing as he'd easily rally more than enough funds to pay for any fines.

(14,678 posts)I doubt there are any plans to jail him at all, let alone pre-trial. There is still a "what's best for the country" attitude out there amongst those who call themselves "moderate".
And what's to stop him from tweeting from jail? Take away his phone? Then he can just relay to another sycophant to do it for him from the prison phone, or through a visitor.
At any rate, this is kind of a moot point. Because even if they managed to stop him personally from tweeting, or even relaying his tweet material to others, there are enough MAGAts around to spew their manufactured outrage for him, which is more than enough garbage out there.
Eyeball_Kid
(7,604 posts)The judge will have to decide who is in control of the process, he or Trump. If Trump defies successfully, then we all will know that Trump is in charge of the Court proceedings. And that won't happen because then, the nation and the world will watch in real time the utter failure of the "Rule of Law." First, the judge will have to openly warn Trump that defiance of his conditions of release WILL RESULT in a Contempt of Court charge WITH incarceration. And the judge will also have to warn Trump's attorneys that any incitement of violence from THEM will also be met with disciplinary action.
And lastly, any attempt to incite violence from MTG will mean.... laughter.
LiberalLovinLug
(14,678 posts)He's already gotten away with 10x what you or I would have. Stealing top secret documents is such an easy prosecution.....IF they wanted to expedite it. They don't need any more evidence. But I digress.
There is still seemingly a hesitation about jailing a former President. I don't think that any jail time will even be considered until AFTER a trial at the very least...and even then I personally do not believe he will spend one day in jail. But certainly not before the trial. That historic event...if it happens...will be saved for after a conviction for one of the more serious cases later on perhaps.
No, they will hum and haw while he goes on violent rants, either from himself of through his proxies. He has proven already he is above the law. At least way above you or I

(6,115 posts)He's a fucking moron and doesn't understand that there's a massive power balance in felony trials and he's at the wrong end of that imbalance.
I can't wait for the charges to pile on, such as obstruction of justice, intimidation of the judge and the DA, witness tampering, etc.
So far he's only seen the inside of a courthouse for civil trials. Criminal trials are a lot different but he won't realize it until he's hit with more charges for acting like a bully.
