CNN Poll: Majority of Americans approve of Trump indictment
By Jennifer Agiesta, CNN Polling Director
Updated 9:30 AM EDT, Mon April 3, 2023

--
Sixty percent of Americans approve of the indictment of former President Donald Trump, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS following the news that a New York grand jury voted to charge him in connection with hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. About three-quarters of Americans say politics played at least some role in the decision to indict Trump, including 52% who said it played a major role.

Independents largely line up in support of the indictment - 62% approve of it and 38% disapprove. Democrats are near universal in their support for the indictment (94% approve, including 71% who strongly approve of the indictment), with Republicans less unified in opposition (79% disapprove, with 54% strongly disapproving).

Is not as offensive as what she spews. I grew up where they spread it thick throughout the agriculture fields as fertilizer. That smell reminds me of my youth, and not all that bad.
But what spews from her mouth is more like dumping 50 Porta John’s from a Tennessee 4 day rock fest, Lallapalooza, onto a Walmart parking lot in mid June. 🥴🤢🤮😷😷,

Only as far as his crimes are political.

About three-quarters of Americans say politics played at least some role in the decision to indict Trump, including 52% who said it played a major role.

That's such bullshit. He illegally tried to cover up his affairs to win an election. People really need to understand that his crimes are political but prosecuting them is not. The justice system doesn't care if tax evasion is committed to hide drug money or if it is to win an election. They prosecute the crime, not the person. Justice is supposed to be blind. Justice isn't supposed to play favorites. We all know that the rich tend to get away with far more criming than the poor, but no one is supposed to be above the law.

This is our justice system working as it's supposed to.

100% true, but that's not what this indictment is about. If he's indicted federally, then I suspect less people will say that politics is involved.

I believe this indictment will contain several tax evasion felonies. But all of this case started when he tried to hide affairs because someone must have told him it would hurt him in the election if known.

He was just stupid - and arrogant - enough to think he could hide the tax evasion. He could have just paid out of his own funds but he's too cheap to do that. So this hand paid that hand and then this hand was paid for "legal services" with money that came from the campaign so here we are.

But, yes, I think on balance, the more units indict him, the FEWER (not less) people will say politics is involved. Just no change from the magat numbers.

You know the orange asshole hasn't.

It also fuels his racist base. Fani Willis is also Black, so you know much will be made of two Black prosecutors "targeting" him. And Letitia James. Lost in the shuffle will be the fact that he's committed numerous crimes.

MAYBE people will think it's "less" political when a white man indicts him but I doubt it.

I think it's pretty awesome that the only people moving with any deliberateness to hold the motherfucker accountable are Black. These folks ain't messing around!

Believe what you want, but that's some pathetic polling right there. CNN should have been ashamed to publish that. I know, these are the types of numbers we like to hear. But polls have to have some integrity to be valid.

There is suspect in this poll. Some tactics the right use consist of the use of reverse psychology to rally the troops. This poll was probably trolled unbeknownst.

1000 isn't a bad amount for a poll at all. It's typical, in fact.

People don't vary as widely as we think they do, and the stats have long borne that out.
