Wisconsin Supreme Court Election Results, LIVE
Source: NBC
In Wisconsin, the future of the state Supreme Court is in the balance in a race between liberal Janet Protasiewicz, a Milwaukee County circuit judge, and conservative Dan Kelly, a former state Supreme Court justice who lost his seat in a 2020 election. The result will shape abortion rights in the state, and it could help decide who wins the battleground state in the 2024 presidential election. The contest has become the most expensive state Supreme Court race in U.S. history.

(26,757 posts)And that race was only a one point loss.
Example - Most of Waukesha is in. Barnes won 37% of that county and she has 41%. But over half of Milwaukee is in and she leads 70-30 (exactly what Barnes earned in November).
Two-thirds of Madison is in and she's up 79-21. It was 77-23 last time.
Net it looks to me like a 1-2% improvement over last year. Which should be enough to win in a squeeker.

(26,757 posts)The precincts in the counties I cited must have leaned a bit redder than the county as a whole because all three have shifted another couple of points.

(11,521 posts)I read an analysis a few days ago which said that Wisconsin is so severely gerrymandered that the GQP will retain control of state government in perpetuity with only 44% of the vote.
But maybe now that there's a sane majority on their Supreme Court something can be done about that.
