Retired Tampa Green Beret sentenced to 7 years for weapons conviction tied to Jan. 6-related search

Source: WFLA Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Retired Green Beret and former Oath Keeper Jeremy Brown was sentenced to over seven years in prison on weapons charges leveled during a federal investigation into his alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 capitol riot.

A federal jury convicted Brown, 48, in December of five felonies and one misdemeanor involving two illegal guns and two hand grenades, and possession of a classified document. The items were found during a search last year of his Tampa property.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bucklew called Brown’s military service extraordinary but questioned his remorse as she handed down the 87-month sentence.

Way better than 7 months for sure.
But his life, as he knew it, is ruined. He deserves it.

He can’t collect VA benefits while he’s in jail. After he gets out? IDK but they should be taken away from every insurrectionist as they obviously aren’t for the USA!

In most cases you retire to the Retired Reserve. He still is a part of the Army...call him back into service, charge him with treason or insurrection (your choice), bust him to PVT E1, forfeit all pay and allowances, slap his happy ass in Leavenworth Penitentiary for 8-10 years, and dishonorably discharge him. Any serviceman, active or retired, who participated in J6 should face the full weight of the UCMJ to come crashing down on without regard to rank or position. He has disgraced the services and the fraternity of Green Berets (who should mark this dude for special condemnation).

Not one retired vet was reactivated to face a military tribunal as a result of J6. Only in civilian court. It makes you wonder how many civillians he taught in the Green Beret system.

Or was he delusional when he ignored that oath and attacked the Capital?

He should lose his pension in either case.

This has been a real slap in the face to our family. He was a sanctimonious, Evangelical for many years, cheated on his wife left, right and center, all but abandoned his five daughters (that did change), and he is a RAGING homophobe and racist. Frankly, seven years is not enough.

...but I absolutely believe he should lose his retirement and ALL VA benefits. As a Vet, we enjoy a certain level of privilege (i.e. Military/Vet discounts, parades, etc.) and all he did through his actions was shit on that very honor. So, yea, he can fuck off, fuck all the way off, and as far as I'm concerned he can stay fucked off.

and people who tried to overthrow the government get slaps on the wrist for multiple felonies, and become celebrties.

Who is more deterred: Black voters or insurrectionists?

“Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Marcet argued Brown… deserved the higher end..sentencing guideline of 87 to 108 months.”

The judge took 21-months of the recommended sentencing. I may be wrong, but I can’t think of a single sentencing in the J6 trials where the judge DIDN’T reduce the sentence.
