While speaking on Friday at a National Rifle Association (NRA) lobbying leadership forum in Indiana, the Republican governor Kristi Noem told audience members her toddler grandchild has multiple guns, reported Mediaite.
During her remarks, Noem spoke about her grandchildren: Addie, who is almost two, and Branch, who is a few months old. Noem then said that Addie already had a shotgun and a rifle.
Now Addie, who you know soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and shes got a little pony named Sparkles too. So the girl is set up, said Noem.

(6,630 posts)And, I think it's illegal for a 2 yr old to OWN guns.
And it's not "grooming" in the slight bit..

(10,595 posts)...rifles and shotguns can be purchased without much regulation. And a two-year-old didn't purchase the gun, she was "given" the gun. Imagine a little girl's delight in opening a Christmas present that turns out to be a shotgun that she can't even pick up.
I'm not sure there's any regulation in SD that would not allow a two-year-old to be given that sort of gun. There are many states that allow a child to "own" a rifle or shotgun. A lot of kids start hunting at an early age (although a two-year-old is way beyond the pale).

(6,760 posts)My brother, who was in hospice for stage 4 lung cancer, gave his 2 year old grandson (his first grandbaby) a 22 rifle and one of his deer hunting rifles. Upon completing a Fire Arms Safety class, he will get the 22 rifle for his 12th birthday. Upon completing a Hunter Education/ Fire Arms Safety class, he will get the deer rifle for his 15th birthday. First deer hunting trip is when they are 15 years old and have their certificate. The guns are in custody of his parents, and stored in a locked gun safe, until the completion of the designated certificates.

(91 posts)This looks like another loophole to bypass back ground checks. She's cute and innocent at two years old but a lot of growing up could change that. I hope not but nobody knows her future.

(13,003 posts)In the middle of the Covid Pandemic, she invites 300-400 THOUSAND people to come to Sturgis to mingle in the streets and bars.
What most sane people realized would be a "Super Spreader" event. Then they all went back home to every state in the lower 48 to spread the virus and to be hospitalized in other states, not in her state, so SoDak would not have to pay for any or all of their care.
In the week or ten days that they all were there, She took in 90 MILLION in tax revenue because of the event.
Many residents who worked in the bars and around the crowd came down with Covid, and SoDak didn't have the hospitals or medical personnel to take care of them, so she palmed them off on other surrounding states to take care of them.........
The woman has no conscience, or care for anyone else except herself. So anything that comes out of her mouth, I would believe......
It is a wonder that she didn't make it into some high level job in the Trump Whitehouse.......She proved she has what it takes......

(18,494 posts)unless they are miniature guns, and the recoil would knock a toddler down. Hope the guns are locked up until she's old enough to learn sun safety and proper use of a gun.

(4,094 posts)I am sure she made her crowd laugh and applaud, that was all she was looking for.
Having said that, I don't doubt the poor child is already being indoctrinated into the republican gun culture, and one can think of all the stupidity that goes around her family where there is an accident waiting to happen, I hope not. Now, let us not forget Forrest Gump Mom's quote, "Stupid is as stupid does.". People like that tend to do a lot of stupid stuff.

(4,094 posts)While kids are being murdered at schools, all they do is come up with stories like that, all they do is support the NRA for campaign money intoxicating their base with vile stories like that one during her speech. Awful people, they don't care about kids, they have no morals, abortion is just a political stunt for votes, nothing else.

(255,556 posts)Any camper who wanted to participate had to be at least 13 and know and understand a list of safety rules before she could even pick up a gun. And one unwritten rule was to never shoot at anything living. There were never any accidents when I was there, but I was told that a few years later a girl with poor aim caused a stray bullet to reach the upper level where the couple who ran the camp lived and the range was shut down for good after that. And this couple ran the camp for 55 years - 1951-2006.
To give a toddler a gun is sheer lunacy, the kid can't even read or write her name, let alone understand gun safety. And she has a sibling? How many accidental shootings have we heard about of small children shooting a sibling, thinking it's a toy? And then there was that 6-year-old who shot his teacher. How stupid can people be?? They should start preparing for the worst right now.

Set for life in America! What every 2 year old wants and needs!
What more can a two year old want? (Sane and responsible parents, maybe?)
Hopefully she will survive any random active shooter incidents during her education years.
Noem wants to know . . . can she bring her guns to class when she goes to school, just in case?
Talk about grooming kids!
The problem isn't the guns . . . it is the fact these people reproduce and teach their kids their version of what is normal.
