Biden Summons Big Donors to Washington as 2024 Campaign Nears

Source: New York Times

Top donors to President Biden have received a last-minute invitation to travel to Washington at the end of next week to see Mr. Biden as he gears up for a 2024 campaign, according to more than a half-dozen people who have been invited to or briefed on the event.

Invitations are going out to some of the biggest donors and bundlers for Mr. Biden’s 2020 campaign — those who donated or raised at least $1 million, according to one person. The initial round of invitations is being made by phone instead of email.

The event, which is not a fund-raiser, is seen as an effort to rally donors before what is expected to be an expensive 2024 run.

The gathering is the latest in an intensifying series of discussions and planning meetings between the White House and Democratic National Committee officials ahead of Mr. Biden’s expected campaign. The president has said for months that he plans to run, and last week he said while traveling in Ireland that an announcement would come “relatively soon.”

So SICK of this shit.

Summon implies an order....invite would be a less loaded word choice.

If you think it means I dislike the NYT, that's your issue.

I subscribe, even if I am sometimes frustrated with the reporting.

I do, however, understand that words have power and two words that have the same general meaning may cause different reactions from readers.

...unless you have evidence that the Times is pushing a narrative on this story, in which case I'd like to know what you think the narrative is.

More like invited to dinner than summoned donors!

Hoping more alert people at NYT feel the same.
