Georgia DA says she will announce charging decision in Trump case this summer

Source: Washington Post

An Atlanta-area district attorney investigating whether former president Donald Trump and his allies broke the law when they sought to overturn Trump’s 2020 election loss in Georgia said she will announce this summer whether charges will be filed in the case.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) made the announcement in letters sent to state and law enforcement Monday urging a “need for heightened security and preparedness in coming months due to this pending announcement.”

In one of the letters, addressed to Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat and obtained by the Washington Post, Willis said she would announce possible criminal indictments in the case between July 11 and Sept. 1 and warned that “open-source intelligence has indicated the announcement of decisions in this case may provoke a significant public reaction.”

“We have seen in recent years that some may go outside of public expressions of opinion that are protected by the First Amendment to engage in acts of violence that will engage the safety [of] our community,” Wills wrote. “As leaders, it is incumbent for us to prepare.”

Either you have the evidence, and can issue the arrest warrant, or you don’t.

No reason to drag it into summer. Arrest his ass. Now.

While those that planned and directed the criminal behaviors get to keep their hands clean and go on with their lives with no consequences.

by the CNN story last week, about how the fake electors are in the process of turning against each other, and Willis thinks the lawyer of most of them will have to step down.

If it's a RICO case, as some believe, that takes time.

I remember when she brought John Floyd in to assist 2 years ago...

it was a big deal around here, but people get impatient and don't understand RICO cases, like you said, take time. But when successful, they nail the whole conspiracy hard. I've always thought this case not only has the best chance of putting Fat Ass behind bars but the best chance at getting a bunch of them at once. I'd lay money she's going to go after a conspiracy with big names from local, state and even federal (congressional) including Fat Ass. I've always thought this one could be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, political conspiracy cases in US history brewing.

but it could also turn the other direction as "our side" is so incensed at him NOT being indicted, that it's finally the straw that breaks the camel's back. Then, with the Magats all fired up, all hell breaks loose between the two groups.

I can actually see it shaking out either way. Though, in a world that made sense, *rump would be indicted sooner than later.

But I think at our outcry of injustice, that would be enough to bring them on... I don't put anything past them. And that includes goading and instigating violence.

Yeah, I'm patient and want this done right so there's no escape for him and his henchmen, but...

Are they waiting until an underground bunker is finished and enough weapons and ammo stockpiled? Is there a shortage of anti personnel mines due to the war in Ukraine?

Surely a non fascist defense force could have been vetted and trained by now.

What's the hold up?

Pushing it back to July or August seems like a long slog.

“Significant public reaction” seems to indicate the charges are going to be harsh, vast or both.
