NEW YORK (AP) Hundreds of thousands of Fox News viewers are reacting to Tucker Carlsons firing by abandoning the network in his old time slot at least temporarily.
Fox drew 1.33 million viewers for substitute host Brian Kilmeade in the 8 p.m. Eastern hour on Wednesday night, putting the network second to MSNBCs Chris Hayes in a competition Carlson used to dominate, the Nielsen company said.
Thats down 56% from the 3.05 million viewers Carlson reached last Wednesday, Nielsen said. For all of 2022, Carlson averaged 3.03 million viewers, second only to Foxs The Five as the most popular program on cable television.
Carlson offered his own alternative to Kilmeade on Wednesday, posting a two-minute monologue on Twitter at 8 p.m. By Thursday afternoon, that video had been viewed 62.7 million times, according to Twitter.

(44,738 posts)At least for a spell, fox is lying less to people who arent woke, thus losing them as viewers.

(8,251 posts)According to some media folks. They would have lost some viewers, but most probably would have returned. Fox is a Behemoth compared to Newsmax. They could have withstood losing some viewers. But greed rotted their brains.
Now they are in a worse position. Oh well,

(3,454 posts)I remember reading right after the election that some of the MAGAs were mad at Fox for calling Arizona for Biden, and they were swearing to abandon Fox News. Two weeks later, they were back.
Fox News is an addiction for these people. They can sit there night after night after night, watching 3 or 4 hours. I don't get it. Even when I enjoy watching a news show, like Rachel, I don't watch it every single night, over and over and over again. Don't they have anything else to do???

(1,106 posts)Will it stay that way? IMO that time slot will revert back to normal in two or three weeks no matter who is hosting.

(114,615 posts)Honestly, it was like a feedback loop between those two.
I suppose Newsmax is trying to pick up the slack, but nobody over there toadies to the Russians quite like Tucker did, although they're trying their best to out crazy Pox News.
Likely Pox will hare some new bottle blondes and make their skirts even shorter and viewership will be up again. This is only temporary.

I can never understand the draw of Tucker or TFG.
