RFK Jr. Blames Zelensky and U.S. 'NeoCons' for Russian Invasion of Ukraine
Source: The Daily Beast
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American NeoCons of intentionally provoking Russias invasion of Ukraine on Monday. In a paragraph-long tweet, the Democratic presidential candidate claimed that Zelensky could have prevented the invasion by just saying the five words I will not join NATO. Instead, Kennedy said, Zelensky cozied up to NATO, bowing to alleged pressure from NeoCons in the Biden White House and fascist elements in his own government. The anti-vaccine activist claimed this military realignment, along with the positioning of nuclear-capable missile launchers along the Russian border, were purposeful provocations designed to cross well-known red lines established by the Russian government. Kennedy brought his diatribe home with a comparison to the ill-fated U.S. intervention in Iraq, claiming the same NeoCons were responsible for both conflicts.

(197 posts)Kennedy hating republicans have been trying to do for 50 years. He has dishonored his family name. I remember that my Grandmother told me that Rose Kennedy said "from those who have much, much is expected". Service and giving back is a truly outdated sentiment in today's lie filled cavalcade of hate and fear. RFK Jr wants to spread fear and lies.

And actually Ukraine outdates Russia as Kylv out dates Moscow as it was a city in the 11th century when forests covered the grond where Moscow is now.
Once the Soviet Union broke up in the '90s many of the Soviet republics couldn't wait to declare independence from Russia...Ukraine. Georgia, the Baltic states, Chechnya and others...they all declared independence from Russia.

(10,008 posts)... the Russian propaganda view. They say either Biden or NATO started the war. They say Putin did not invade - rather, he was defending his country. Ukraine was a bad influence...Americans, Gays, Jews, Muslims, etc... and they wanted to kill off people who spoke Russian. It's very similar to the MAGA stuff we have here. RFK Jr. is either another Tucker, or off his rocker.

Never was an alcoholic; a light drinker when I could till mid '90s. Oh, I can have a few sips but not enough to get buzzed anymore.
Mild use of pot, and a very occasional hash brownie (fun times!) in the '70s and that was it. And, oh, contact highs at the midnight Rocky Horror Show. 😄
We don't know how badly losing his father in that horrifying way affected him, and it came out later as drug use. Somethhing to consider.

Even if. They hadn't yet. Negotiations still could have happened to assure Russia's security......if they behave.
There is just NO EXCUSE for the amount of death and destruction inflicted on innocent civilians, and Ukraine defenders for a "what if".
And Even if they did join NATO while Russia waited. NATO is a defensive organization. Russia still would not be threatened unless they decided to invade.
Blaming Ukraine and the US for Ukraine casualties is disgusting.

Besides his dangerous anti-vaxer status, why is he blaming Ukraine?!
Doesn't Ukraine as a Sovereign Nation have the right to join NATO? I really don't have a big opinion about it.
They gave their nuclear missles back to Russia didn't they? (Will look up)
ETA:
People also ask
Did Ukraine return nuclear weapons to Russia?
By 1996, Ukraine had returned all of its nuclear warheads to Russia in exchange for economic aid and security assurances, and in December 1994, Ukraine became a non-nuclear weapon state-party to the 1968 nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).

(54,610 posts)I don't know what's got into him.
Of course Putin wants to keep his former Soviet "Republic" back inside the Russian Empire, NATO member or not. The five words Zelensky would have needed to say to prevent the invasion would have translated out to "I will give the Ukraine back to Russia." In a Slavic language, this can be said in five words. Ukrainian and Russian are Slavic languages, and thus don't have articles, and have a dative case, so "to Russia" is the same word as "Russia" with a different ending (России vs. Россия ). The Ukrainian or Russian would be "I give Ukraine back Russia." In Russian, that would be: Я даю Украйну обратно России.
The difference makes it easy to spot Russian trolls whose English isn't fluent. They might easily say "I go Netherlands for whole month November" instead of "I will go to the Netherlands for the whole month of November."

Ukraine was nowhere near joining NATO. Although, if Ukraine was part of NATO then Russia wouldn't have invaded. It's not hard to understand why some in Ukraine would have desired to join NATO.
The claims about nuclear missiles on the Russian border is nonsense. There are no US nuclear missiles in Europe. There are some countries with nuclear bombs, but those are freefall bombs and none of them are on the Russian border.
The only thing they could be talking about is the aegis ashore missile defense in Romania. That installation fires sm-3 surface to air missiles used as midcourse missile defense. Those are fired from vertical launch systems that could in theory be used to launch any of the same missiles that could be launch from US Navy ships (think cruise missiles, then think nuclear armed cruise missiles), but the US claims that isn't possible. But either way, that system is not on the Russian border.
