Prosecutors seek 25-year prison sentence for Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes

Source: CBS News

The Justice Department is seeking 25 years in prison for Stewart Rhodes, the Oath Keepers founder convicted of seditious conspiracy for what prosecutors described as a violent plot to keep President Joe Biden out of the White House, according to court papers filed Friday.

A Washington, D.C., jury convicted Rhodes in November in one of the most consequential cases brought in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, when a mob of then-President Donald Trump's supporters assaulted police officers, smashed windows and temporarily halted Congress' certification of Biden's victory.

The sentencing recommendations come a day after jurors in a different case convicted four leaders of another extremist group, the Proud Boys — including former national chairman Enrique Tarrio — of seditious conspiracy. The Proud Boys were accused of a separate plot to forcibly keep Trump in power after he lost the 2020 election.

Jurors found Rhodes plotted an armed rebellion with members of his far-right extremist group to stop the transfer of presidential power from Trump to Biden.

Schwartz had 38 prior convictions since 1991 and was one of the most violent traitors on that day.

Prosecutors asking for the maximum with Rhodes I’m guessing. Schwartz’s max was 24.

I’d guess 4-6 years for Rhodes.

Naturally, they say federal prison is better than a state prison. Federal prisons tend to have higher security than state ones. Prisoners who have committed violent crimes are more likely to be in state prison, State prisons are often considered to be less safe than federal ones because more violent criminals live in them.

Florence ADX is a maximum security Federal Prison, inmates are locked down for 23 hrs. a day and allowed 1 hour exercise time in a small cage without any interaction with other inmates.

This is truly where I hope the US Department of Corrections sends these traitors to serve their prison sentences.

.. this asshole seemed to think that he was General George Washington commanding Operation Overload (aka D-Day).

He drove to DC from Texas, stopping along the way on several occasions to purchase more weapon-related stuff. He was also very enthusiastic about setting up a 'quick reaction force', encouraging others to drop off their firearms at their QRF headquarters (a motel room in Virginia), and they did just that. At one point, he was even trying to find boats to use to transport the weapons across the Potomac, in case all hell broke out and the US military et al blocked the bridges.

He deserves the 25 years.

They better not put them all in the same jail. Scatter them out so they cannot communicate and plot.
