Texas mall shooting prompts Biden to renew call for gun control

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) -U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday called on Congress to pass gun control bills in the wake of yet another mass shooting that left nine people dead, including the gunman, at a Texas mall on Saturday.

The Democratic president renewed calls for Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, as well as to enact universal background checks and end immunity for gun manufacturers. There is little chance the narrowly divided House and Senate would pass such legislation, although polls show most Americans support background checks.

Biden, who has made similar pleas before, said the assailant at Allen Premium Outlets mall in Allen, a northern suburb of Dallas, wore tactical gear and was armed with an AR-15 style assault weapon.

The gunman killed eight people, including children, and wounded at least seven, before a police officer killed him, police said on Saturday.

ability for the government to try and keep as many guns as possible out of the hands of murdering assholes.
Otherwise any law will be at risk at being tossed out by the courts.

It doesn't ban these per se but requires a very high excise tax and registration of automatic weapons, short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns.

…mass media cover up continues, every time, reliable as thoughts and prayers.

So something Republicans!

Or..NationalEmergency…14000 dead by gun this year…more than in Ukrainian?…impose the fucking laws needed! Obviously needed, painfully needed.

I'll say this again. The GQP WANT this s*%& to happen.

The more fear, the easier it is for them to stay in power. They are not pro-life.

Dems need to call GQP out on this more otherwise this is just going to continue toward Marge's 'nation divorce' in a very violent way.

"Twenty five years ago, when Biden was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Congress passed the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act — commonly called the assault weapons ban.

It prohibited the manufacture or sale for civilian use of certain semi-automatic weapons. The act also banned magazines that could accommodate 10 rounds or more."
