DeSantis signs bills targeting drag shows, pronouns, bathroom use and transgender children

Source: Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed bills Wednesday that ban gender-affirming care for minors, target drag shows, restrict discussion of “preferred pronouns” in schools and force people to use certain bathrooms.

DeSantis has made anti-LGBTQ+ legislation a large part of his agenda as he prepares to seek the Republican presidential nomination. He signed the bills in front of a cheering crowd at the evangelical Cambridge Christian School in Tampa. The ceremony had a campaign-like feel, with DeSantis tossing Sharpies to a crowd, as opposed to when he privately signed measures on abortion and gun rights.

Democrats opposed the bills and LBTQ+ rallies were held at the Capitol during the session that ended two weeks ago, but Republicans have a super-majority in both chambers and easily approved the bills for DeSantis’ signature.

“It’s kind of sad that we even have some of these discussions,” DeSantis told the crowd, standing behind a lectern with a sign reading “Let Kids Be Kids.”

his theme is still "the 2020 election was rigged/stolen". At some point, everyone gets tired of hearing the same old song over and over and over.

DeSantis is covering over his significant tendencies, as evidenced by his choice of white go-go boots in inclement weather. The stress of the moment overcame his vigilance against any outward manifestations, such as his choice of leopard print jackets and snake skin gloves. Or, so it seems.

But he's not alone there. That supermajority traitor legislature is the bigger problem, by far. That means that most of Florida voted for these very things to happen. One fascist wanker is a fluke. One fascist wanker plus a fascist wanker supermajority is a menace to society.

I've discovered that I think part of the problem with the current GOP is that they face no real opposition and they don't even really face the general public either. They only go to carefully screened events, and they only appear on talk shows where they have their ass kissed. I'm convinced that if you were to pull the talk show bubble out from under them, no one would ever listen to them, because all of their ideas are terrible.
