Senator Tim Scott has become the latest Republican to join an increasingly crowded 2024 race for US president.

With about $22m (£18m) in cash on hand, he enters the fray with more campaign funds than any of his rivals.

(131,253 posts)There's no way in Hell the white supremacist GOP would choose a black man as their nominee for president, and probably not VP either. The GOP will include him in their nomination process, just to show how not really racist they are, and he'll also get a few endorsements before the endorsers switch to TFG. But he hasn't a chance and he must know it. Maybe he's just hoping for a higher profile to ensure his re-election to the Senate.

(1,535 posts)...has done nothing but be an obstructionist. He's among the luckiest people ever in American politics, having fell into his Senate seat via appointment, not doing a damn thing, and existing in the shadow of Lindsey Graham, who draws the flak and fire. I'm not even sure he even merits the title of "stooge".
