Rick Scott issues travel advisory for 'socialists,' warning Florida is 'openly hostile' to them
Source: The Hill
Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) issued what he described as a formal travel advisory for socialists visiting Florida, on Tuesday, warning that the state was openly hostile to socialists and their enablers.
The state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by Socialists and others who work in the Biden Administration, Scott, who is also the states former governor, said in a press release.
Let me be clear any attempts to spread the oppression and poverty that Socialism always brings will be rebuffed by the people of Florida, he added. Travelers should be aware that attempts to spread Socialism in north Florida will fail and be met with laughter and mockery.
Scotts statement is a mocking response to recent travel issued by social justice groups declaring Florida an unsafe state for certain minority groups.
Over the weekend, the NAACP issuing a travel advisory warning that Florida has become hostile to Black Americans under Gov. Ron DeSantis. The League of United Latin American Citizens (a civil rights organization) and Equality Florida (an LGBTQ rights group) also issued travel warnings in recent weeks.

I have been sternly reminded by patriotic Democrats
that this is Democratic Underground, and not Socialist Underground.

As far as the second sentence of your post goes, many people here know that I am not a big fan of Bernie or AOC and the other squad women. When they identify with socialism, I get a bit impatient. I am not going to start a war over it, but I don't like it very much.

It sucks that so many major corporations spend countless millions in red states like Texas and Florida - in 2022 I was in both states at least five times each doing these conferences. I hate that they don't spend their money in other places - Vermont or Colorado are just as (if not more) interesting and beautiful as Florida - Texas nor Florida has all that much actual beauty (in my opinion) compared to many, many other states in this country.
But, attendees want to feel like it's a vacation and people equate vacation with sun and beaches and such. Orlando is uber popular for events, but it's one of the most depressing places I've ever been.

This will be when we get to see just how stupid their base really is. Every time they vote in a Republican, they are voting against their own best interests, unless they themselves are obscenely wealthy, of course. Let's see if the Republican politicians can pull this one off and have their senior voters accept having social security taken away from them.

(2,018 posts)but the one I believe goes back to 1966 when Bob Dylans album Blonde On Blonde was released. The song Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35 is also known by the line Everybody must get stoned.
12 x 35 = 420.
Another story is that stoners are always looking for a reason the smoke weed and the English celebrate High Tea at 4:00 PM. Way back in early 60s weed was sometimes called tea, and of course the heads would not let that go un-noticed and started smoking at 4PM as they brewed the tea drink. It was quickly accidently discovered that they should wait until after the handling of fire and hot water was completed before getting stoned. Hence 4:20.
BTW tomorrow is Bob Dylans birthday, May 24, 1941. So everybody must get stoned.

Rick Scott might as well be saying to all potential tourists from European countries (which generally are apparently more developed than the US):
Also, all of you senior citizens who currently reside in Florida and who are takers on Social Security, all of you who might ever use police or fire departments and all of you who take comfort in the security offered by the protection of the US military, be gone from this place! You are not welcome here!"
