House Dems take pessimistic tone on debt as McCarthy pushes to 'finish up' talks
Source: Politico
House Democrats, whose votes will be needed to pass any debt deal that steers the nation away from a painful default next month, are beginning to sound the alarm as White House-GOP talks stretch on.
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries struck a pessimistic tone on Wednesday, shortly after Speaker Kevin McCarthy dispatched his Republican negotiators to the White House to continue the talks. “It’s increasingly clear to me that House Republicans are intent on crashing the economy and defaulting on our debt,” Jeffries told reporters. “That’s wrong. It will hurt everyday Americans in the brinkmanship.” He cited several recent developments in the talks between McCarthy’s emissaries and President Joe Biden’s in darkening his outlook on the high-stakes negotiations — including comments like Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-Fla.) comparison of the standoff to hostage-taking and the growing influence of former President Donald Trump. 1. I wonder if instead of talking about "debt default" the emphasis should be on things like
"your next Social Security check won't be sent" or "your hospital/clinic closing because of no Medicare payments" or "the VA turning veterans away" even if those aren't quite accurate.

3. Again (once again), there's the failure in effective messaging
There's plenty of talented people out there who could help the party. Why aren't they in charge of messaging?

10. In 2022 red states got no less red.
They're a juggernaut only because the proliferation of misinformation remains unchecked. That and too many Americans are stupid and lazy in their souls.

13. Stop it.
Seriously.
There's nothing wrong with Democratic messaging. The problem is that the traitor media treat the Democrats like they have cooties, trash them constantly, but give them little if not zero ability to air their views in response. Go look at their Sunday shows alone: They routinely host 3 traitor party shills for every liberal allowed on their shows--and that's on a good day. Most of the time, the tilt towards the traitor party is worse than that. Some weekends, they have zero Democrats or liberals on their stupid shows. This is consistent behavior with the traitor media. WAKE UP. |

4. This is Politico..
everything is gloom and doom for Biden and the Democrats...and as per usual Politico transcribes Kevin's verbal garbage as fact.."positive talks"/"talks stalled"/"talks resumed" blah blah blah... in truth, we have no idea what's in motion out of the public eye or in the confines of the Oval Office..and you can bet Biden is not going to allow the economy to crash...

6. Exactly....always overstating making things look much worse than they are, and that's being kind
The facts…kevieeee doesn’t have the votes. They are at least 50 short. If he is winding up talks, this is why. They will not succeed and will be blamed for this nonsense.

8. I don't think President Biden has a choice
He will have to invoke the 14th amendment. Then give an address in prime time as to why he has to do it.
Its that, or give away the store to rethugs. |

9. r's ordered dinner, ate it
and now want to skip out on the bill.
Raising the debt limit is one thing. Talking about future spending is another. r's are combining the 2 to create havoc. I haven't heard a single news report that explains the situation in such a way the difference between what one and the other is. The media is just mouthing r talking points. And the public is anxious, maybe hoping that the crash won't happen, not believing it will happen. It will, unless Presdient Biden invokes the 14th and judges uphold his power to do so. The only thing that r's could successfully operate is a boring drill, because that's the only thing meant to be run into the ground. |
