Asylum-seekers flown to California say they were 'deceived' by people promising them jobs and housin
Source: CNN
Asylum-seekers transported from Texas to Californias capital city of Sacramento two weeks ago say they were misled by people who convinced them to travel with promises of work and shelter.
A total of 36 migrants were driven from Texas to New Mexico where they were then transported on private charter flights to California on June 2 and June 5, Eddie Carmona, director of campaigns with the non-profit PICO California, told CNN. Most of the migrants, two of whom CNN spoke to, are from Venezuela and Colombia, while a few are from Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
We are here because they offered us a job, one of the migrants, a 34-year-old Venezuelan man who does not want to be identified for legal reasons, told CNN. We were deceived by the people who provided the flight service. They offered us jobs and housing.
Investigators from the California Attorney Generals office have determined that although the migrants came from Texas, they were carrying documents purportedly from the Florida government. The papers listed Vertol Systems Company Inc. as the contractor behind the flights. CNN has obtained a signed contract showing Floridas Division of Emergency Management hired Vertol Systems to relocate migrants in May. Its the second time Floridas government has worked with the contractor since the fall of 2022.

(9,056 posts)shield themselves by using leased/rental conveyances and contracted pilots/flight crew/drivers. But the actual owners of these units and companies controlling these contractors can still be in major trouble along with the others doing this. These lease agreements all have clauses in them that the equipment is not going to be used for any illegal purposes. That would include fraudulent conveyance. Whoever drove the busses has a commercial driver's license and that can be suspended immediately by the Feds. The planes likewise can lose their ability to fly. The busses could also be impounded. Human trafficking is a huge area of emphasis for the Feds right now and that includes fraudulent inducement and conveyance.
So not only can this Vertol, DeSenseless, the minions doing the direct false inducement etc. be on the hook but whoever actually owns the equipment may lose the use of it and possibly the ownership. The Feds seize vehicles and property used in crimes all the time. What it takes is the push from DOJ/FBI. Although it is quite likely that the people on the ground in Texas are using false names etc. in order to try to hide themselves we do know who is contracting for their services and whoever approves the contract also has liability under the law for the performance and conduct of the contractors.

(34,189 posts)Most likely Abbot has a hand in it, but he's not spending Texas money helping DuhSantis in his human trafficking efforts.
I can go along with arresting both of them, plus the head of the Florida Department of Emergency Management - which should be worried about the flooding from the rains we've been getting here in Florida. Not only have we been having huge amounts of rain - as much as 12-17 inches of rain in 24 hours - there is a LOT more forecast for the next week.
On top of that, the early topical depression that is formed could hit Florida - then Emergency Management will be begging the federal government for money since they blew it on human trafficking.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
Jesus was a refugee and an immigrant. After he was born, fearing that King Herod would murder Jesus as they returned to their homeland in Judea, Mary and Joseph fled with their child to Egypt.
We need to call out these people for what they are. Christ teachings about strangers is established Christianity. Ignoring these truths and teachings identifies the right as heretics.

(4,741 posts)It's not very honest of you to claim it, when you have no evidence of it.
Because your demi-god also said this:
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 5:17-18
And one of those laws he's talking about is this one:
Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever.
--Leviticus 25:44-46
What law did you think he was talking about? Roman law?
Please.
This is the problem with quoting that wretched book. It's full of contradictions and hypocrisies.
Plus, people who've actually read it can quote from it, too.

(4,552 posts)We need to attack the right at their level! With statements they understand!
My religious belief has nothing to do with what we need to communicate to the right. Call them heretics and back it up.
You are mad at me because I want us to use their religion against them. How about you help?
We need to flip the script.
Politics has always been a game of deception.

(6,115 posts)among other things, if the money for these charter flights is being paid for by the state.
Every penny of these charter flights should come out of Abbott's and DeSantis' pockets. Their personal accounts.
If this is paid for with state funds, there should be a class action lawsuit made up of Texas and Florida taxpayers. I should think they'd have standing to sue on the basis of funding an illegal activity using their (taxpayers) money.

(602 posts)The bus company is a big part of this political charade. If, when dropping off its human cargo, the driver were arrested on "suspicion of kidnaping" or "human trafficking" or some such, and the bus itself was impounded as evidence, the bus companies would quickly get tired of participating in this scheme.
