Jan 6 rioter who electroshocked Michael Fanone shouts Trump won after receiving a 12.5 year sentence

WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who drove a stun gun into the neck of a D.C. police officer who was abducted by the mob during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol shouted "Trump won" after being sentenced to 12.5 years in prison on Wednesday, multiple people present in the courtroom told NBC News.

Daniel "D.J." Rodriguez, a California man who traveled to D.C. with fellow Trump supporters who belonged to a Telegram group called the "PATRIOTS 45 MAGA Gang," pleaded guilty in February to felony conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, tampering with documents or proceedings, and inflicting bodily injury on officers using a deadly or dangerous weapon. "There will be blood," Rodriguez wrote in "MAGA Gang" Telegram chat on the night of Jan. 5, just hours before attending Trump's rally at the White House Ellipse. "Welcome to the revolution.”

On Jan. 6, after joining the fight in the Capitol's lower west tunnel — where some of the most violent scenes of the day played out — Rodriguez attacked officer Michael Fanone, later bragging about his actions in the Telegram chat. “Omg I did so much f---ing s--- [right now] and got away,” Rodriguez wrote to fellow members of the Patriots 45 MAGA Gang. “Tazzed the f--- out of the blue.”

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson imposed Rodriguez's 151-month sentence, saying he was a “one-man army of hate, attacking police officers and destroying property” on Jan. 6. Rodriguez was responsible for his own behavior even if Trump had been making "irresponsible and knowingly false claims that the election had been stolen," she said. Fanone, Jackson said, was "protecting the very essence of democracy," and Rodriguez was "among the most serious offenders" on Jan. 6. "He's not just a follower, he calls for action," Jackson said, referencing Rodriguez's violent rhetoric immediately after Trump lost the 2020 election. Jackson said there was no indication that Rodriguez had any mental or cognitive impairments, referring to the defendant as "a man of average intelligence."

and that's where a lot of them are coming from. Others are descendants of people who came up from Mexico in the 1500s to settle southern California and the southwest. I don't know why they want a king or dictator but I've met a fair number here who do.

So you can't really go by surname. Expecting any group of people to be any sort of monolithic political or religious bloc is a loser's game.

Judge bans Proud Boys leader from Washington after arrest

By MICHAEL BALSAMO and COLLEEN LONG January 5, 2021

WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge has banned the leader of the Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, from the nation’s capital after he was accused of vandalizing a Black Lives Matter banner at a historic Black church and found with high-capacity firearm magazines when he was arrested.

The order bans Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, 36, from entering the District of Columbia, with very limited exceptions to meet with his attorney or appear in court. It comes a day after he was arrested arriving in Washington ahead of protests planned by supporters of President Donald Trump to coincide with the congressional vote expected Wednesday to affirm Joe Biden’s election victory.

Tarrio was arrested Monday by the Metropolitan Police Department and accused of burning a Black Lives Matter banner that was torn down from a historic Black church in downtown Washington last month. He was charged with destruction of property and is also facing a weapons charges after officers found him with the firearm magazines when he was arrested.

According to the criminal complaint, when police pulled Tarrio over on the warrant for vandalizing the Black Lives Matter sign, officers found two unloaded magazines emblazoned with the Proud Boys logo in his bag that have a capacity of 30 rounds each for AR-15 or M4-style weapons. A large Black Lives Matter sign was ripped from Asbury United Methodist Church property, torn and set aflame in December. Tarrio was seen with the sign in video of the incident posted on YouTube, according to a police report. Tarrio admitted to police, according to their report, that he posted a confession on the right-wing site Parler that he had set fire to the sign.

I went to parochial school from grades K-12 with my best buddy in this world. We're like sisters and she's Latina. Our families were close. If we didn't have, her family gave to us and if they didn't have our family gave to her family. Her late Dad built my niece a crib, and you couldn't tell the difference except he had carvings in the wood of the crib. It's still beautiful 40 years later. My late parents babysat the kids in her family and her parents did the same for me/my siblings. She has family members over in Mexico that I also grew up with and they're all trying to get me to move to Mexico. It's tempting, but the heat would kill me, plus my family is here in the USA. I go every once in a while to Mexico, but mostly Skype with them. Anyway, my buddy has a cousin 56 self-describes as white/Caucasian. In fact, an alarming number of her cousins Identify as white/caucasian, and refuse to speak Spanish and forbid their 3 teen daughters to speak Spanish, because she and the hubs (whose German) call speaking Spanish "low class,' and my friend told me last month, that her other cousin who tolerates their self-described Caucasian cousin told her that she woke up to the words "Go home you filthy Taco" painted in white paint on her black Range Rover. The cousin's whole neighborhood is Ultra Maga/white. This cousin still has her "Trump Won" banner hanging on a pole next to her HUGE American and German Flag, yet NONE of the magats even acknowledge her existence when they have their home owners meetings the other cousin told my friend. She told the other cousin "I don't know why no one speaks to me when I go to the homeowners associating meetings. It's not like I'm a beaner, look at me." I guess that over-processed, bleach blonde hair and blue contacts really aren't working for her 👀 She is attractive and has a nice figure for her age, but her white neighbors aren't having it.

Looks like the white Magats in their community don't like the Magat whose Hispanic and trying to NOT be hispanic, and who married a German guy from Germany in any way shape or form. There are gonna be some real fireworks soon, because when she finds out that her daughter--whose really sweet, probably will be class valedictorian next year when she graduates my friend told me, and she totally ignores her parents--is 17 and has been sneaking around 2 years with a fellow classmate who plays on the school's football team and is a top recruit of many colleges here in Ca. is black. My friend's cousin keeps me and my buddy updated on when Mount St. Helena erupts when her parents find out that their naturally blonde daughter is in love with and has been sneaking around for 2 years with a black guy behind their backs

Federal prosecutors wanted Rodriguez to spend 14 years in federal prison — an upward departure from his sentencing guidelines, which suggested a sentence of roughly eight to 10 years — saying that Rodriguez committed an act of terrorism. Rodriguez’s “egregious” conduct “displayed a clear intent to stop Congress from certifying the results of the election” and was “calculated to stop the peaceful transfer of Presidential power for the first time in the nation’s history,” prosecutors argued, calling Rodriguez’s efforts “a quintessential example of an intent to influence government conduct through intimidation or coercion.”

I don’t recall any other 1/6 MAGAts getting more than sentencing guidelines recommend. Also in the article, he sounds unrepentant. Perhaps a longer stay will mellow his harsh. If not, then he’s off the streets that much longer.

A sentencing recommendation that starts at less than half of the maximum doesn't make sense to me.

About the assault charge alone, the law says:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/111

Whoever, in the commission of any acts described in subsection (a), uses a deadly or dangerous weapon...or inflicts bodily injury, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years...

Maybe the MAGAt's lawyers were able to argue that getting tazed in the neck isn't "deadly or dangerous".

This reeks of bullshit. He should be doing 15...minimum!

This bastard deserves every year, of which there still aren't enough for appropriate punishment. Has he shown or exhibited any sense of remorse?

He oughta be glad I wasn't the judge in his case.

I don't have a hair's worth of sympathy for any of these schmucks. Is that how they learned to react when they were in kindergarten? As they were growing up? Several people DIED that day, because a mob of wrong-wingers chose to throw violent physical hissyfits because the election didn't go the way they wanted it to.

NO sympathy. And as fare as I'm concerned, they still got off easy.

...he knows his only hope is a Presidential Pardon. If he figured there's a 40% chance Trump could win again, this action may be enough to earn that pardon a worth rolling the dice. He had nothing to lose at that point, he was already sentenced.

Of course, it may not help him down the road for parole, but he can change his tune if that day comes.

My personal opinion; Life without parole. Fuck him. however, I'm just trying to guess his reasoning.
