(6,270 posts)it might be an attempt to sow (more) discord between Putin and Prigozhin. Good move by the Ukrainians.

(28,472 posts)at which point he takes all them out with one blow allowing the Russian government to make sure they get everyone in power there that might oppose them.
After all not being able to do that with Ukraine like they were hoping to do with their puppet has made it hell for Russia taking Ukraine.

(102,793 posts)Which it isn't hard to believe, then Prigozhin would be wise to already be in Africa somewhere right about now.

(1,882 posts)and that he has the ego to take it on, I don't see how Putin lets him live. It's authoritarian dictator 101. I think they'll wait until the coverage dies down, but the odds of Prigozhin seeing 2024 or next spring are pretty slim. I wonder if he would have had more leverage for a better deal if he had surrounded Moscow before backing down.
Either way, he's even more of a far right nationalist than Putin, so his extermination probably won't be much of a loss.

(7,604 posts)because he wasn't getting a lot of Russian military support. So he got as far as he could and called it good. If the Russian military showed their support, he'd have gone right in to Moscow unopposed. But he estimated that the resistance from the Russian Army would decimate his forces, since their supply of weaponry was far inferior to the Russian government's. The only way to succeed would be to feed off the Russian hardware, but that wasn't happening at a critical level.
So, yeah, Prigozhin's a goner. He won't be sleeping in the same bed on two consecutive nights. If true that the FSB or comparable unit was ordered to kill him, then the mission will be complete. These people, all of them, are barbarians. Humans are not valuable and can be easily discarded unless they serve a purpose by being kept alive. It's the way of sociopaths and many billionaires. They have a lot of power and an infinite supply of avarice. And they are controlling much of ongoing violence in much of the world.

(14,689 posts)He may not have won, but he'd at least have created more chaos for Putin to deal with. Created more opportunities for Ukraine to take advantage of. He may have even inspired a revolt in the armed forces.
