Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin - who led a short-lived rebellion in Russia last month - is in Russia and not Belarus, the leader of Belarus says.

Prigozhin's whereabouts have been a mystery since the mutiny.

Under the deal to end the stand-off, charges against him were dropped and he was offered a move to Belarus.

But on Thursday Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko said: "As for Prigozhin, he's in St Petersburg. He is not on the territory of Belarus."

Yesterday in a video, very brief, but he looked like he was fighting off a poisoning or something, looked like he lost some weight suddenly in his face.

I don't believe the whole "Prigozhin on the outs with Putin" meme for a moment. The whole scenario of the past few weeks was staged and the way I see Prigozhin's Russian visit is to:

Get his orders from Putin on Wagner's next moves and they are crossing their t's and dotting their i's. Prigozhin will soon enough be back in Belarus and on the move with Wagner, but where and doing what? Poland, the Baltics, western Ukraine or possibly Kyiv? I hope I'm wrong, but this whole thing stinks like a pig pen on a hot August day.
