Tennessee can enforce ban on transgender care for minors, court says

Source: ABC News

FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth can go into effect — at least for now — after a federal appeals court on Saturday temporarily reversed a lower court ruling.

Late last month a district court judge in Tennessee found that the state's new law banning transgender therapies like hormone blockers and surgeries for transgender youth was unconstitutional because it discriminated on the basis of sex. The judge blocked large swaths of the law from taking effect.

On Saturday, however, the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati granted an emergency appeal from Tennessee. In a 2-1 ruling, the majority wrote that decisions on emerging policy issues like transgender care are generally better left to legislatures rather than judges.

“Given the high stakes of these nascent policy deliberations — the long-term health of children facing gender dysphoria — sound government usually benefits from more rather than less debate,” wrote Chief Judge Jeffrey Sutton, an appointee of former President George W. Bush.

Given that the legal actions against it already, wouldn't it be better to bar it from going into effect and hurting people rather than the other way around?

which isn't going to work well on children, anyway, since it would have to be revised as they grew up.

The Christers could be happy to get a strict ban of something that isn't done, since they're all screeching about a problem that affects such a tiny minority that they'll never encounter it, at all.

Kids who announce they are trans need to start counseling. A tiny minority will go on to puberty suppressing medications. A tiny minority of them will go on to surgery when they are adults. That's pretty much how it works. If there is any doubt, medical and surgical interventions are postponed.

Counseling is necessary so they'll live through their school years, bullies being what they are.

So yeah, all you Jesus jumper freaks, pass laws against gender reassignment surgery on kids. Then go to church and tell everybody else how righteous you are. Have a ball.

They are not doctors, and they are making up laws and judicial rulings by pulling shit out of their asses. Unacceptable.

Healthcare practitioners are settled on this. I trust their judgement. It is THEIR field. Sometimes lawyers just need to shut the fuck up and listen to those who know. I guess that goes for all of us from time to time.

“…decisions on emerging policy issues like transgender care are generally better left to legislatures rather than judges.”

Fer fuck’s sake NO!!!

Decisions on ALL medical health matters are best left to DOCTORS - and their PATIENTS! THAT should be the sacred standard for health care. They are the ultimate deciders; no one else, especially some gerrymandered into office crackpot whose prior experience is real estate or pest exterminator.

I have looked at medical codes for doctors in a couple of states. Each of them HAVE specific and enforceable commandments to protect Doctor-Patient confidentiality and to DO NO HARM; for which failure is loss of license to practice in the state.

Put TEETH into that, and stop shit like this.
