Biden has decided to keep Space Command in Colorado, rejecting move to Alabama, officials tell AP
Source: AP
WASHINGTON (AP) President Joe Biden has decided to keep U.S. Space Command headquarters in Colorado, overturning a last-ditch decision by the Trump administration to move it to Alabama and ending months of politically fueled debate, according to senior U.S. officials.
The officials said Biden was convinced by the head of Space Command, Gen. James Dickinson, who argued that moving his headquarters now would jeopardize military readiness. Dickinsons view, however, was in contrast to Air Force leadership, who studied the issue at length and determined that relocating to Huntsville, Alabama, was the right move.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the decision ahead of the announcement.
The president, they said, believes that keeping the command in Colorado Springs would avoid a disruption in readiness that the move would cause, particularly as the U.S. races to compete with China in space. And they said Biden firmly believes that maintaining stability will help the military be better able to respond in space over the next decade.

(9,056 posts)so they can thank that moron for helping to make the decision easier. On a realistic basis it would be irresponsible to locate an important Federal facility in a state that has demonstrated an open willingness and support for having their elected representatives engage in hostage taking regarding personnel aspects that directly impact on that facility.
The media as usual plays favorites with how they characterize certain people who routinely come up for coverage. For this guy it is always about him being a former football coach and they leave it at that. They do not report on his history of being involved in scam investments or his "charitable foundation" for veterans which in most years appears to have spent very little on vets compared to what they brought in and is now "being reworked" after various financial filings didn't come close to matching what was reported to the IRS. So we only see "football coach" attached to him rather than "involved in shady financial dealings". Remember how they always characterize Bob Menendez from New Jersey? That's just the quickest example that comes to mind.

(9,056 posts)like so many of the other states of the Old South have spent a lot of time in the '80's on up trying to tell the rest of the country they weren't "that" anymore. They made changes to the words they used in public but "that" has always been there and has not gone away. The rise of the Tea Party etc. enabled "that" to regain dominance. It is not so much that they love the Orange Ruski for foreign policy etc. it is far more that he encourages them to let "that" proudly fly at all times and as President he took actions, such as at the border, that made them feel good because some of the ones they focus their hate on were having horrible things inflicted upon them. Another example is their dislike of affirmative action. That goes back a long way and it is ridiculous to think that some blue collar guy in central Alabama cares whether a black guy goes to Harvard. It is really about being angry the courts and society had moved along and the old system of "that" made changes in their states and on their TV screens and in their schools. They want "that" back and will blindly support anything or anybody who they think will help. Their embrace of authoritarianism and worship of people like Erdogan and Putin is because they desperately want "that" to be the way it is and they know that a dictator type could make it happen whereas normal policy debates and elections would take time and the outcome would be uncertain. They want to go back to "that" so badly they will turn a blind eye to the wholesale destruction of normal debate, legislation and jurisprudence of any kind. Just so long as somehow "that" comes back allowing them to discriminate and hate and makes them feel good, powerful and in control over others again.

That in itself is would not be a threat but for the fact that space has become a contested region, and the PRC is in it to contest it. This became evident in 2007, when the PRC successfully conducted an ASAT interception test that destroyed one of their weather satellites.

By 2030, Alabama may have seceded from the Union again. And Colorado Springs is in a deeply red Congressional district, so it's not like the Republicans are getting screwed by keeping the headquarters in the Springs. Tommy Tubberware can go to Hell.

So back to my reply.
Oh, sure, I know Cheyenne Mountain is heavily defended, protected.
As for UFOs/UAPs...
I know most are mis-sightings, a few hoaxes.
And there maybe some that are inexplicable. Further there just might be a few that could be real.
Whether intelligent beings from elsewhere? I have a highly abstract capable mind, and I understand pretty well the vastness of our galaxy, let alone the Universe; could there be laws of physics, or mathematical constructs by quite more advanced societies that could breach these distances?
Could it be a dimensional travel? Semi intelligent Drones?
Is there a Galactic Society? Again the questionable vast time & distance overlap? Maybe a few societies connect instead.
I'm waiting for my hold for the book "In Plain Sight:...." to activate in 3 wks or so - do I can reread several sections.
It's by an Australian Journalist who ended up doing a deep investigation of the issue. The book is not that old, and covers the whole history. Also mentions Non-USA incidents. I read it early this year but had to rush through it.
It was experiences of several USA astronauts, and a few people knew them that appeared very serious that I particularly want to recheck.

(3,213 posts)Beau has a good video about this. While most of use are blaming Tubby, it was more about Force Readiness and how servicepeople would be treated off base and their rights restricted. (661 posts)... I will have to respectfully disagree with your Wall plan.
To be clear - screw the Confederacy and those that still think it exists or should exist. It is not heritage; it is a shameful part of our history.
But I think the 5,000,000+ Texans (to pick just one southern state) that voted for Biden in 2020 might feel a lack of support from their progressive Blue compatriots should others take up your rallying cry to kick them out of the country they love.
I understand your frustrations with the current crop of dunderheads elected to the various positions in these southern states. I share them. I just think that protecting voter rights, in the courts if necessary, and expanding voter participation are the more realistic solutions to the current crisis.
