"Giuliani is objectively one of the most effective prosecutors in American history who took down the Mafia, cleaned up New York City and comforted the nation following 9/11," his spokesperson, Ted Goodman, told reporters as recently as last month.
...............
The former mayor was one of 19 defendants including former President Donald Trump who were indicted by Fulton County DA Fani Willis' office in connection to Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. All the defendants were charged with violating Georgia's RICO statute.
Trump, Giuliani, their co-defendants, 30 unindicted co-conspirators, and "others known and unknown" to the grand jury "constituted a criminal organization whose members and associates engaged in various related criminal activities including, but not limited to, false statements and writings, impersonating a public officer, forgery, filing false documents, influencing witnesses, computer theft, computer trespass, computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state, acts involving theft, and perjury," the indictment said.
Giuliani, specifically, was charged with solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, false statements and writings, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, and conspiracy to commit filing false documents.
Giuliani's indictment was not entirely unexpected; prosecutors working for Willis informed him that he was a target of their wide-ranging inquiry earlier this month, and Willis also has a long history of using RICO in a slew of previous cases.

I posted this here in lbn because it specifically talks about Rudy.
I did not know he had been informed that he was a target.
He is a fallen little man. Folks speculate what was the cause. Obviously money--but did Trump pay him??
I think alcohol was a primary reason also. If he has prison on his future agenda--he will have a rough time drying out.

(7,632 posts)The mediasphere and ad agencies are so cruel and stupid with their assigning names to people. Theyve ruined the good name of the United States slapping the label America on every shooting star.

(336 posts)like, the country is so lucky to have George Bush in the WH, Al Gore would've been lost, or a disaster or similar. The View didn't let it go unchallenged jumped all over his sorry ass. So yeah, he's always been an over rated POS! The only thing more fitting than Rudy indicted will be Rudy incarcerated.

(59,520 posts)prosecutions made him think he was a king-maker. I don't think he could have taken down the mafia families he did without the cooperation of other mafia families. So he chose which of them lived or died.
I think all of that combined to make him think he could pull the strings of power and it all made him an insane megalomaniac.

(41,631 posts)There have been complete turnovers of personnel at SDNY since Rudy was the kingpin. His old pals are long gone now. I don't think Rudy knows any US Attorneys any more.
I could be wrong, but I believe the ethics and morals of US Attorneys are famously incorruptible. Once Rudy went over to the dark side, he was always going to be caught eventually.
