MU Health Care denies access to puberty blockers, hormones for established youth patients

Source: KOMU

COLUMBIA − Youth receiving gender-affirming care at MU Health Care will no longer be able to receive puberty blockers or hormones despite a new law that allows them to continue the care.

Senate bill 49 prohibits those under 18 from beginning gender-affirming treatment, including receiving puberty blockers, hormones or gender-affirming surgery, but minors who are already receiving treatment are allowed to continue, according to the bill's text.

But MU Health Care will no longer administer or prescribe puberty blockers or hormones due to the "significant legal liability" under the new law, MU Health Care said in a statement.

"Health care providers face significant legal liability for prescribing or administering cross-sex hormones or puberty-blockings drugs to existing minor patients under the new cause of action," the statement said. "MU Health Care providers may continue to provide other types of gender affirming care that is not impacted by the law."

The practice of medicine should be left to medical professionals, not to the uninformed whims of self-absorbed Republican farmers, businessmen, lawyers, and village idiots.

But, no, Republican lawmakers are typically the stupidest people of any class in which they graduated while also being the most arrogant, have the least amount of self-awareness, are generally the most cowardly and vain, and have the most unsophisticated views of the world around them.

They all need to be drummed out of office.

And not have to deal with their healthcare bullshit, be it this or abortion access.
Fortunately I have several others but my heart breaks for those affected by this
