Fetterman plans to return donation tied to Menendez 'in envelopes stuffed with $100 bills,'

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., will return $5,000 in contributions from a political action committee tied to Sen. Bob Menendez “in envelopes stuffed with $100 bills” because of the New Jersey Democrat’s indictment on bribery charges, Fetterman’s spokesman said.

Fetterman’s campaign received $5,000 from Menendez’s leadership PAC during the 2022 election cycle, according to the nonpartisan site OpenSecrets. The Pennsylvania senator’s spokesman told NBC News, “We are in the process of returning the money in envelopes stuffed with $100 bills.” The news was first reported by The Messenger.

Fetterman was the first Democratic senator to call on Menendez to resign after he and his wife, Nadine Menendez, were charged with three bribery-related counts in federal court in New York.

Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio on Monday became the second Democrat to tell Menendez to step down. “Senator Menendez has broken the public trust and should resign from the U.S. Senate,” Brown said in a statement.

politics? It’s a necessity, not an option!

The Senators greatest crime was getting caught! You only have to give the envelopes back and admit you where not ok with it…after someone gets caught!…no idea shouldn’t do that before!!??

Although trucks and train cars of cash now required to win dogcatcher…those national dogcatcher election media ads are not cheap…says the grateful, where the Cash is eventually all dumped…no conflict there!

No need for media to snoop around the issue of possible mass political corruption anymore, this is surely the only example!! Says the media…

As you instructed us, " Impressions can be in error, difficult to give up."

What’s the point? He has voiced his opinion that Menendez should resign. Why not move on to other mor important matters.

are trying to get out ahead of what is likely to become a distracting and fulsome media circus.

Given that Menendez is in a neighboring state and Fetterman has worked with the other Senator from NJ - Cory Booker - it's possible that Fetterman and Menendez never hit it off.

you have that initial "blast" and then it disappears out of the news cycle a few days later. Seems the media is focusing on "Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce".

I think it is Fetterman being a smartass in an attempt to send a message and try to remove yet another "weapon" that the RW loons could use to attack him since he has become a threat to their bullshit.
