Biden warns against threats to democracy and says Americans must speak out

Source: NPR

President Biden on Thursday said democracy in America is at risk, and urged Americans of all political backgrounds to recommit to support the Constitution and democratic institutions.

"We know how damaged our institutions of democracy — our judiciary, the legislature, the executive — have become in the eyes of the American people, even the world, from attacks within, the past few years," Biden said, citing the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of his predecessor Donald Trump.

"We should all remember: democracies don't have to die at the end of a rifle. They can die when people are silent — when they fail to stand up or condemn threats to democracy," Biden said.

The Phoenix speech marked a return to a theme that Biden said is central to his 2024 reelection campaign. It also created a split-screen moment, pitting his vision against a Republican party grappling with some serious internal divisions.

NPR will not get a penny of support from me if this is the extent of their commitment to the constitution and democratic America!

..are absolutely terrifying, at first.

When I first looked at the chart in that article, I took the results to mean that republicans and Independents value the economy over democracy itself.

Everyone in the poll was asked: "From this list, which of the following issues do you feel is the most important facing our country:"

When I thought about how they could believe we would even have an economy without our democracy, I realized that they were probably thinkng that the economy is currently in more danger than our democracy, which makes sense because the republicans are the reason our democracy is in danger in the first place, plus they're fools for the B.S. the repub party (and corporate media) spew at them.

This is how you corral a rolling revolution bent on destroying a nation State. Leadership at the precise moment when some of the opposition party are beginning to assert themselves over MAGA. Biden either has either the best political judgment - or the best political advisors - EVER!

My own review:

All the most urgent issues, knockout punches to his disgraceful and disgraced predecessor, with direct quotes, and a call to young and old, military and civilian, and to all ages to preserve the nation from those whose only goal is to destroy it.
