Ex-NYPD Boss-Turned-Trump Ally Bernie Kerik Wants Immunity to Testify
Source: Daily Beast
Bernie Kerik, the former commissioner of the NYPD who was identified as a likely unindicted co-conspirator in Donald Trumps Georgia indictment, said Monday hell refuse to testify in trials for Trump and his allies without a written assurance of immunity from prosecutors. Kerik was subpoenaed to testify in the first trial related to a sweeping indictment filed against Trump and 18 othersthis one involving former Trump lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powellbut indicated through his lawyer, Tim Parlatore, that hell invoke his fifth amendment right to silence unless prosecutors cut him a deal. No competent criminal attorney would allow Mr. Kerik to testify absent a grant of immunity, Parlatore wrote in a fiery letter to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Monday, CNN reported. Its unclear what exactly Kerik did to land him on a list of co-conspirators, but Trump and a number of his allies face charges for their alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in Trumps favor.

Keep lining them up. Plenty of room at the probation office.

Ignoring your "BS" about what I think, I'll tell you how I know and why Weissman is right.
1. She made Kerik an un-indicted co-conspirator because she's got evidence.
2. Bernie Kerik... identified as a likely unindicted co-conspirator in Donald Trumps Georgia indictment, said Monday hell refuse to testify in trials for Trump and his allies without a written assurance of immunity from prosecutors. Kerik was subpoenaed to testify....
A subpoena isn't an "ask." If he refuses to testify unless he gets immunity, she'll an indict him. Kerik emailed Rudy & Meadows -- both defendants in the GA RICO case -- conceding they didnt have any evidence of voter fraud & they needed to focus on the fraudulent elector scheme.
3. Knowing she got receipts, he's the one asking for immunity, but whether he gets it or not, he'll be in trouble for refusing to testify, or even if he does and takes the 5th on the stand.
His lawyer, Parlatore, had to go on tv to claim that if Willis such a good prosecutor, she should give his client immunity, which is the tell that he knows his client is in trouble. His tv lawyering is also connected to the fact that he's paid by Trump's Save America SuperPAC.

(33,424 posts)And he will not be trouble if he takes the 5th. That is his legal right.

(43,307 posts)Be patient. You'll see. Kerik won't be a snag in Willis winning this case.

(33,424 posts)Of course he would demand immunity. Why wouldn't he? No defense attorney would allow him to testify without it. THAT would be a "very screwed up belief system."

If he gets up there and clams up, Prosecutor Willis should change his "unindicted" co-conspirator status and get some answers from him in his very own trial.

(6,115 posts)You don't get to extort an immunity deal once you've been subpoenaed. You show up to testify or you sit in jail for contempt.
And another thing, fuckface: if you don't think the DOJ already has a mountain of evidence that will put you all away for years, you haven't been paying attention.
Who the fuck do you think you are? The DOJ has bigger fish to fry.
