GOP criticism that White House funded Iran ahead of Israel attack is 'false narrative,' Blinken arg

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise had called it a sign of "appeasement."

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday pushed back on growing Republican criticism that the White House's decision to allow the transfer of some $6 billion of Iran's oil revenue, in exchange for the release of five American detainees, was a sign of "appeasement" ahead of a surprise militant attack on Israel.
"Not a single dollar from that account has been spent to date and, in an any event, is very closely and carefully regulated by the Treasury Department," Blinken told ABC "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos.
Blinken stressed that the funds are designated solely for humanitarian purposes and are not U.S. tax dollars.
"Some who are advancing this false narrative -- they're either misinformed or they're misinforming, and either way it's wrong," Blinken said.

(11,143 posts)How the war in Ukraine shapes the Russian-Iranian relationship
The war in Ukraine has led to unprecedented levels of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the military, economic, and political spheres. The rise of anti-Western hardliners in both Moscow and Tehran mean that this cooperation is likely to continue and intensify, despite the differences between them.
The new relationship between Russia and Iran is a direct threat to the EU and European countries. Russian-Iranian cooperation could prolong the war in Ukraine, increase Iranian capacity to advance its nuclear programme, de-stabilise the Middle East, and undermine Western influence in institutions of global governance.
Russia now finds itself reliant on Iran in ways that were unimaginable prior to February 2022. Tehrans military contribution to Russias war effort has made an enormous difference to Russias ability to persevere in a difficult conflict. Iran, once a secondary player, is now one of Russias most significant collaborators in the war in Ukraine.

(13,538 posts)And I do think it was a stupid deal to make too.
But NOTHING these terrorists have done has a thing to do with Joe Biden or that deal
But Iran being what they are, it also wouldn't surprise me if they claim they used the money to fund the attack. Even though something of this magnitude was being planned long before that deal was done.
But to the cult anything bad MUST be tied to Biden.

(586 posts)Seems 90% of what they do is disseminate disinformation and then making sure these falsehoods become the talking points of every member. Attaining power and filling their own pockets is their only true ambition. I am counting on Gen Z to help eliminate this party.
