Cardinal representing Pope Francis offers himself to Hamas in swap for child hostages

Pope Francis’ top representative in the Middle East said Monday he was willing to trade places with Israeli children taken hostage by Hamas terrorists.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, 58, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, proposed the swap in response to a question during a video conference with journalists in Italy.

“I am ready for an exchange, anything, if this can lead to freedom, to bring the children home. No problem. There is total willingness on my part,” he said.

“The first thing to do is to try to win the release of the hostages, otherwise there will be no way of stopping [an escalation]. We are willing to help, even me personally,” the monsignor continued.

There have been countless REAL & ACTUAL Christians who laid down their lives in place of innocents destined for execution or have laid their lives down for their faith- Maximilian Kolbe, Edith Stein, (a Jewish philosopher who converted to Catholicism. becoming a discalced Carmelite nun), Sister Annelvira Ossoli, who long with 6 members of her congregation died from Ebola, in 1985 while tending to the sick in Kikwit, Congo, Shahbaz Bhatti, (murdered in Pakistan for the HORRIFIC crime of being Christian in 2011), Trappist Monk Christian de Cherge' based in Notre Dame de L'Altas in Algeria, who was murdered by "members" of a monstrous cult they were convinced was what Islam is all about, (No, it wasn't -SURPRISE!) not to mention Evariste Kagorora who REFUSED to leave a church that he was taking refuge in with so many other terrified Rwandans, even though he was told he'd be allowed to pass safely. THESE, dear Wryter2000. along with so many countless others is what true Christians do and who we are. Are they perfect? NOPE but when it comes right down to brass tacks, this is what it means to be somethibg other than Sunday Morning Christians.
