The start of the Cal vs. USC football game in Berkeley was delayed on Saturday, Oct. 28, due to protestors who took to midfield and refused to move.
At first, law enforcement appeared unsure how to extract the protesters from the field.
Video posted by Fox College Football showed USC quarterback Caleb Williams and Cal quarterback Fernando Mendoza waiting on the sidelines as the protests occupied the area near the 50-yard line.

Eventually, the protesters were led off in handcuffs, according to photos posted on social media by Scanner Berkeley.
SFGATE Editor in Chief Grant Marek, who was in attendance at the game as a spectator, said the contest was able to begin after about an eight-minute delay.
While it was not immediately clear what the protest was over, Luca Evans of the Orange County Register wrote on social media that a policeman told him the protests were over the suspension of UC Berkeley professor Ivonne del Valle, who is accused of stalking and harassing another professor.

KQED is not a bastion of Nazi/RW thought, in my limited experience.

Nothing so bloody as a faculty battle over something that's really small.

(70,732 posts)Berkeley sounds like a walking Cal/OSHA violation.
Under Cal/OSHA regulations, Berkeley is required to provide the professor who is being stalked with a safe workplace. He clearly does not have that.

(2,010 posts)It is a dangerous sport.
But the story suggests it was a protest about a professor being suspended for supposedly stalking and harassing another professor.
Very strange motivations...
Would have made more sense if they were protesting college football. Lol

USC won 50-49.
8 minute delay? How many commercials is that?
