Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah Vows to Step Up Pressure on Israel
Source: Wall Street Journal
The chief of Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah praised the Oct. 7 Hamas assault on Israel and vowed to step up military pressure on Israel in coming days but said he didnt plan on waging a large-scale attack now, as regional leaders sought to assess the risks of a widening war.
Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollahs secretary-general, spoke for the first time since the Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 people in southern Israel and sparked a war in Gaza and as Hezbollah and Israel have been engaging in tit-for-tat exchanges of fire across Israels northern border.
Hezbollah faces growing pressure from its own ranks and Palestinian groups inside Lebanon to respond more forcefully to Israels offensive in Gaza, which has killed thousands and devastated large parts of the enclave of two million people.
For those who say that Hezbollah should start a war in the entire region, I say wait. These are the beginnings, he said. More actions will be taken against Israel from several different fronts and this issue will become more obvious in the next few days.

(2,613 posts)The United States is only as an add show of force.
Hesbala and Iran should tread softly.
And even Saudi Arabia has been intercepting hesbala missiles.
A regional war is bad for business.

(2,613 posts)and let Hezbollah, Iran and Israel...plus any other countries that decide to join in duke it out?
Do you have a fully stocked bunker with enough food, water, and medical supplies to last about a decade?
Do you like freezing weather world wide for years at a time?
The United States reminds countries in the middle east that we've got Israel's back and also reminds Israel that we are closely watching.
So there is that...

If Israel deems a threat to their existence, they WILL consider the Samson Option.

The Samson Option was almost used in 1973 during the Yon Kippur war.

You seem very glib about it.

(318,897 posts)TEL AVIV Israel and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have agreed to a cease-fire ending five days of fighting between the two sides, one U.S. official and one Israeli official told NBC News on Saturday.
The cease-fire was mediated by Egypt and will start at 10 p.m. local time.
Now, this agreement has been reached thanks to continuous Egyptian effort. We appreciate this effort, Mohamad al-Hindi told the Al Kahera Wal Nas channel.

(38,686 posts)PIJ joined in on 10/7, and it was their missile that landed in the Hospital Parking lot, IIRC.
Beastly Boy
(13,283 posts)Hamas is so more reliable than Palestinian Islamic Jihad to not violate the cease fire when it suits them?
Just a pathetic whack a mole game with the whole alphabet of terrorist cells, one pointing at the other.

(38,686 posts)ultimately, it doesn't matter if there was one or not, but DUers keep saying Hamas broke it.

(13,283 posts)They can take turns making agreements and braking them, and point fingers at each other.Which terrorist group is breaking the agreement at any given moment does not make the situation any mire stable.
