Mark Meadows' Book Publisher Sues Him for Lying in Book
Source: MTM
The publisher of Mark Meadows' book "The Chief's Chief" filed a lawsuit in Sarasota, FL Circuit Court today for making numerous false statements in the book.
All Seasons Press is asking for the $350,000 advance they paid to Meadows, $600,000 in additional compensatory damages for expenses, and $1 million in reputational damages suffered by the company for their association with Meadows.
The lawsuit alleges that the publisher expressed concerns with lies in the book very early on and withheld installments that were supposed to be paid even after being threatened by Meadows' attorneys.
The company alleges that once news broke that Meadows was cooperating with prosecutors on October 24, sales bottomed out and the book only sold 60,000 copies. The company based the advance it paid to Meadows on anticipated sales of at least 200,000 copies.

(8,878 posts)GOP supporting PACs have made huge bulk purchases of books by prominent GOP celebrities in the past, and then give the books away as 'premiums' for people who make donations. Easy to envision that those PACs won't be supporting Meadows' book sales with that sort of stunt, especially if they figure Meadows is not showing proper fealty to the MAGA monstrosity they were all banking on to continue the take over of US democracy in favor of the special class those PACs front for.

Cassidy Hutchinson in her memoir, Enough, describes him sitting in his office dejectedly scrolling through his cell phone as Trump was planning and inciting the Jan 6 attempted coup. He also stopped talking to Cassidy after Trump repaid her loyalty to himself by accusing her of leaking to the press in Dec 2020. He's a pathetic, yellow-bellied, simpering fool who always finds himself on the wrong side of history.

(179,869 posts)Meadows repeated and promoted the Big Lie in his book in order to sell books to Maga idiots. The publisher was targeting MAGA idiots to buy this book. Evidently book sales were weak before Meadows started to tell the truth because TFG attacked Meadows and now book sales have totally cratered. This will be a fun lawsuit to watch

Meadows, the former White House Chief of Staff under President Donald J. Trump, promised and represented that all statements contained in the Work are true and based on reasonable research for accuracy and that he has not made any misrepresentations to the Publisher about the Work, the publishing company writes in its suit, filed in court in Sarasota County, Fla.
Meadows breached those warranties causing ASP to suffer significant monetary and reputational damage when the media widely reported that he warned President Trump against claiming that election fraud corrupted the electoral votes cast in the 2020 Presidential Election and that neither he nor former President Trump actually believed such claims.
The suit comes after ABC News reported that Meadows received immunity to testify before a grand jury convened to hear evidence from special counsel Jack Smith, reportedly contradicting statements he made in his book. ....
The company is asking for the $350,000 it paid Meadows as an advance for the book, $600,000 in out-of-pocket damages, and at least $1 million each for reputational damage suffered by the company and loss of expected profits for the book, which they argue plummeted given Meadowss involvement in numerous investigations regarding Jan. 6.

When its all said and done, Mark Meadows might actually end up living in that rusty Scaly Mountain mobile home he lied about and swore was his residence when he voted in 2020!

(2,715 posts)They want to scrub clean, but they were in the inner circles and heard, consented with and helped advance nasty, cruel, twisted, deceitful, dishonest and illegal agendas.
Michael Cohen so far is the only one of these I know of that has admitted what he was.
I love the existence of these books, don't get me wrong. In combination they expose the edges of the chaos. My issue is with the authors. Mark Meadows was and is obviously dishonest. I haven't read and I don't plan to read his book, but I expect his narrative paints himself as a squeaky clean hero in a bad situation.
If I take the cleanest of them, I still would warn anyone to be careful. These people dealt with evil for a long time. They did not get to the position they held by showing charity to the weak.
Cassidy Hutchinson, for example supported Cruz before she supported Trump. While I believe her entirely when she says she was abused, and I believe her testimony, she has a long pattern of supporting people who are very destructive and obviously so. I don't want her to suffer and I wish her well. I would be quite overjoyed if those who abused her faced consequences.
Cassidy is as far as I can tell the cleanest of the lot of them. But here is the big difference. Michael Cohen has acknowledged his sins and errors. He has done time for them. If I was going to rank the honesty in any of these books, I would rank the ones where the writer admits to the evils they did, as the most trustworthy narrative.
